Favorite CG in Glacier National Park Area

We are going to Yellowstone and have that part of our trip all planned out but now we are thinking we should run up to Glacier National Park. Does anyone have any suggestions for RV parks in that area or ones that they were disappointed with?
Thanks!

In the summer of 08, our family stayed in the KOA in West Glacier. We thought it was very nice. We enjoyed our stay there.

In Glacier there is an NPS campground - Apgar - any size rig will fit there. Have fun! Glacier is one of our favorite parks!

Hey Carol,

In early June 2010 we boondocked in the NP with our SOB 26'. It poured rain on us for 40 days and 40 nights... Actually 5 straight. Going to the Sun road was still snowed in. So we hiked in the rain....

While there (we were suffering from Jungle Rot, exposure, and Cabin Fever) we drove wet and shivering and checked out two nearby RV parks. We probably looked like a couple of dirt dwelling vagrants but they let us in anyway.

First was San Suz d RV park (a few miles from the West Entrance on north side of US 2 and second was the W Glacier KOA. (a few hundred feet closer to the park on the South side of the highway.

Kate begged me "please can't we move here so that we can run the heat (pre solar days) and watch TV... Instead we packed up and drove South till the sun came out... Colorado (thank God as I don't Habla Espanol)

We decided that next time we came to Glacier we would do either of the two. Both were very nice, and clean and looked well maintained and the sites were not as crammed together as most RV Parks. San Suz d had a fair amount of mature trees so satellite looked like it could be an issue whereas the Koa was a little more open if I recall correctly.

I don't think you could go wrong with either of the two on the west side.

It doesn't get much better than Mountain Meadows in Hungry Horse.

We loved the KOA in West Glacier. Pricey but very nice and easy to get into. The best feature is the people who work there. Most knowledgeable about the area and simply can't do enough to accommodate you. At least that is how it was in 2008. Jim

Mountain Meadows in Hungry Horse for us too ,it was very nice and peaceful. On the West side. The going to the sun road was closed still and this was 2d wk of June 2010. Although we went in about 15 miles of it, then looped under the park and came in from the east about another 10 miles or so. East side wasn't as touristy but beautiful just the same. Then we looped up into Canada around the northern part of the park and back down to Hungry Horse, made a long day but it was beautiful .

Good to hear as we are spending 5 nights there towards the end of August.

Going to be in Glacier July 9th - July 17th, made reservations in Columbia Falls RV Park. Have never stayed there but RV reviews has rated it very high.

It was a toss up for me between Columbia Falls and Mountain Meadows.

WOW!!! Now we are having a tough time deciding Mountain Meadows or West Glacier KOA. KOA is more expensive but Mountain Meadows seems more filled with wilderness!!! Tough choice!!!

We stayed in Glacier Campground in West Glacier last year. If you like being in the woods it is great. We had ribs in there outdoor restaurant and they were terrific!! We had a brown bear walk 20' behind the campsite when we arrived.

We also stayed at Mountain Meadows in 2010. The staff was great and the campground is set in the trees. We drove through the KOA and it looked nice as well.

We stayed at Mountain Meadows for ou 35th anniversary trip. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Don't miss a White Motorcar Tour. Take a step back in time and enjoy the sights.

Thanks to everyone for their advice!!! We decided to stay at West Glacier KOA. It was a tough choice between Mountain Meadows and the KOA but since we have a 7yr old who wants access to a pool and other kiddos we decided to stay at the KOA. When he is older we will definitely be staying at Mountain Meadows!
