Dishwasher?

I would like to know how many of you out there would order a dishwasher for your coach in place of the oven? The convection microwave and stove are standard features with the coach already. I have never used my oven in either of my Montana's and would like some thoughts from members.

What...rely on the Apollo for dinner???

Seriously, if your talking about the 3400 or even the Big Sky 340QRL, it would be tough to get a dishwasher where the oven is because there are no provisions for water or drains in the kitchen slide. There would be no real way to effectively work a gravity drain from what I see. If I'm not mistaken, I don't think any models have plumbing provisions in the slides.

However, I'm investigating putting one at the end of the island where the inspection plate is, over the hot water tank. Haven't measured yet, but I think I can getrdone. Would loose 2/3 of the cabinet space on the other side, but haven't figured out what to use that cabinet for anyway.

Why not just take the stove out, get an apartment sized portable, extend the fill and drain hose and use when needed?
Course you'd have to build a campfire to cook anything

Well, I'm sure no one is going to agree with me here (my wife certainly doesn't), BUT, I absolutely HATE dishwashers and wouldn't have one in my house if it were up to me. I'd much prefer to wash them by hand they always come out cleaner and you never have to worry about spots and stuff. This is coming from someone who spent all my years in high school washing dishes at the local college and doing them at home since I had to stand on a chair to reach the sink. Now, I'm just using that for a point of reference that I have done at least my fair share of dishes and would continue to wash by hand here as well as in my Monty house!

I'll go back to lurking where I don't bother anyone.

I have a feeling if you don't now do the dishes, and your better half reads this, then you are going to be the chief dishwasher from now on! LOL

I'll bet they could put the plumbing in for a dishwasher...no difference than putting it in for the W/D.

Anyway, we don't need one, my DW has a dish washer. She cooks I do the dishes.

Its the slide Cat, the can't put the plumbing in the slides. The W/D are in the stationary part of the coach.

After making a deposit, we canceled a deal on a Sea Breeze in 1998 because the unit had a dishwasher in place of the oven. We decided the oven was needed more than a dishwasher when dry camping and the resale value might be less.

Brad,
Good point, but it will not be in a Montana or a Big Sky... Since there is no "other" in my coach I am the cook, cleaner, and the dish washer.

I will still have my Weber Q to cook outside with...

I agree. Everytime we cook out camping we seem to generate more dirty dishes than we do at home. Guess if I went to all the work to put in a dishwasher to hold the 4 plates and glasses they hold, I'd still get the dishes job for all the rest anyway

The DW's brother offered us one of those small counter top dish washers, but Heck it would put the poor dog out of business, lol.

Even though I hate washing the dishes I would not want to give up my oven. I do use it a lot. I also use the microwave a lot too. When I am not using the oven I keep our breads stored in it. I have resigned myself to having dish pan hands the rest of my life.

John,

hahaha - That's way too cute of a dog to get put out of work because of automation!
