Winterizing the washer/dryer

We finally had the washer/dryer combo installed and the installer thought that if the manufacturer had tested the machine out there could be some water in it and that it would be a good idea to put anti-freeze in. I know this was discussed before (and I've searched but came up short) and seem to recall that you could put some anti-freeze directly into the machine and then put it on spin and that would be all that was necessary. Sorry for the repeat but could someone clarify this for me? The rest of the camper has been winterized. Thanks, Marilyn

Depending on the type of washer/dryer you have, I think the w/d manufacturer has recommendations on this. I would check with them just to be safe. If you have the Splendide, I have found them to be very responsive.

If it's a Splendine all you need to do is run RV antifreeze through the hot and cold lines through the system using the 12 volt pump and winterize kit. Once lines are full turn W?D combo on rinse till you see the pink antifreeze coming through, once you see it then spin it out, your done.

According to the info I got from Splendide all you have to do is drain the water out of the washer by removing the filter. Be warned tho you must put a drip pan or something under the the filter cap or you will have a mess. Splendide has a web site where all of this is explained.

I will be doing mine soon.Its the splendide 2100.This is right out of the owners manual word for word

1) with the machine power OFF,put 1/2 quart of RV anti-freeze in the drum.Close the door

2) Turn the program selector knob to spin.Turn the power on.Let the machine spin for 1-2 minutes.

3) Turn the power OFF.Unplug the washer or disconnect the power cord.

4) Shut off both water faucets.Dis connect water inlet hoses from faucets and drain.DONE

Thanks everyone for the replies! Harleyrider, that's what I was looking for as everything else is already winterized. That will be easy to do---put it right in the drum and spin it out!

What if you have a Kenmore unit? Would it be done the same way? We saw some pink while we were winterizing but didn't spin it all out. Should I go out and spin it a little? Maybe we should get another gallon of pink stuff. And pink the washer more.

We did exactly as Broome101 suggested - This is also what our Service tech manager told us to do also. We have the Splendide 2100 combo and as harleyrider said, the splendide owners manual did say what he had stated in his remarks, however, I took the advise of our service tech as he winterized our 5er the first year we had it and everything worked out fine with no problems. I found his way of doing it much easier and a whole lot less messy. My suggestion is to follow Broome101 suggestions and you'll be surprised how easy it is too get this done with very little effort and no mess.
