Glad to hear that we're whetting your appetite, vickster. I'm glad that you are all enjoying the pictures. We loves sharing them and hope that it does entice many of you to make this wonderful trip. Tomorrow we'll head toward Homer, where the BIG halibut abide. More pictures to come!

Judy, you are doing such a good job with your pictures. I can't wait til next summer when it's our turn. Where do you put all the fish? Should I be saving for an extra freezer for our basement? We really love fish.

Thanks again for all the kind comments, everyone. Helen, I think you have the right idea. A small freezer would be a good idea. It cost us $138.00 to ship 35 pounds of fish to Alabama via overnite Fed Express. It's almost discouraged us from fishing anymore. We are presently in Homer and went down to the Fishin' Hole. The salmon were jumping all over the place but fewer were being caught. As they get closer to spawning they may not bite and the authorities will allow them to be snagged. It's hard to imagine that the fish are so thick that you can snag them.

We are in Oceanview RV park and have a site down by the water. We are about 2 or 3 stories up from the beach but the view is still gorgeous. There are glaciers on the mountains across the bay. It's in the 60s and looks like it's going to be another beautiful day. We have really been blessed with wonderful weather, very little rain, and almost no mosquitoes. Hard to believe!

The beach here in Alaska is very rocky with smooth, colorful rocks. We found only one shell on the area we were investigating. There are firepits right on the beach so we may trying roasting some marshmellows one evening. People camp everywhere and the rocky beach is no exception.

The Spit is an interesting place and we hope to check it out this afternoon. There are numerous colorful little shops but these are especially artsy and cleverly decorated. It's one of the most colorful places we have seen in Alaska.

Sorry to make you homesick, Northstar. I'm sure you miss Alaska. Better not look at the pictures next week 'cause we're heading for Palmer.

Judy, your pictures continue to be wonderful. The ones of the salmon look like a fisherman's version of heaven!

I think Glen's smile is bigger in that picture than any I've ever taken of him. Next time we come to Alaska, we're going to be prepared with a small freezer. It's expensive to send the fish home and we'd fish more if we knew what to do with them.

You guys send me the cash and I'll go catch the fish. Deal? We have actually stopped fishing because we have no way to send them home or keep them except for paying $4.50 a pound to send them home. I guess even that's cheap when you figure the cost of fresh halibut. I must admit, it does taste good. We're saving most of the literature that we've picked up on this trip so that those of you at Reno can indulge yourselves. I remember that curiosity and hunger for info about this trip so we're glad to share. Alaska and Canada have wonderful Visitors Centers with lots of literature and good computer connections. By the way, there are new pictures on the Blog.
