Visited New Mountaineer Yesterday
DW, friends and I went up to Tiara yesterday to visit the 331RLT. Our friends wanted to see, of course, what we signed papers for 8 days ago. Turns out they were pretty impressed!
When we got there, coach was setting behind service building with slide rooms closed as I had anticipated. That was why I took one of my good Die-Hard batteries with me. Put the battery in the front compartment, hooked it up and plugged the bargeman into the back of the Denali. All was good.
Went inside and opened all of the slides while the outside temp was 29 degrees. Noticed as the off door side slide was opening, the drawer under the range popped partially open. Didn't think about it at the time, just stepped over and closed the drawer when the slide was fully extended and it seemed to latch into place. All was good.
Everybody looked around. Wife was showing her friend Sue all the kitchen features and I was showing my buddy, Norm, a lot of the other features. After about half to three quarters of an hour, we were done looking things over.
Then, closed the bed room slide with no problem......started closing the two main floor slides and as the kitchen (off door) slide was coming in, that drawer popped open, again. About that quick, pump went dead and slides stopped. The proverbial weak breaker syndrome !!! After a few seconds, I touched the button again and the slides came the rest of the way in. Then, I closed the drawer but, noticed that it did not seem to latch as good as it should. At one point, it popped back open.
So, have another issue that needs addressed on top of the several other minor issues that I listed and gave to them. None of which I had noticed have been corrected. But, that's OK because, we have all winter to get them done.
But, I will be doing the "70 amp manual reset breaker thing" when I take full possession of her in early March. Also, need to find out exactly what type of fluid was put in the reservoir because, I had noticed when I was putting the battery in and out, it looked a little low.
Ah yes, life with an RV! Ain't it great!!

Cold weather was when we had problems with that breaker and Keystone replaced it with an 80amp under warranty. They should do the same for you.

You might want to consider removing a qt of the OEM fluid and replace it with a qt of CAT anti-stiction fluid. Part # 1U-9891. Has helped with the jacks popping in large temp swings. Kinda expensive, but makes wife happy no more jack popping middle of the night.
The OEM stuff in mine just looked like 10w hydraulic fluid.
When all the slides are in and only the front jacks are down the reservoir will show a bit over 1/2 full.

There is another thing that will affect the hydraulic operation when it's cold, which is the weight of the fluid in the system. If you go on Lippert's site, and go to the Lip sheets, there is one that gives optional lighter weight fluids that can be used in colder climates, just like with some vehicles with motor oils. The Lip sheet is number 0291, LCI HYDRAULIC OPERATION FLUID RECOMMENDATION.

Not applicable unless you have the lippert self leveling system on the rig.

Thanks everyone, for the great ideas and suggestions! Was just on Tiara's web site because, I had a nose issue due to the fact when we was there Saturday forenoon, they had the Challenger set-up for display to the buying public and got sorta' curious. Went into their "used" part of the site and sure enough, there was a bunch of pictures of the old 35RLQ. Right at the top of the heap! Somebody is going to get a good deal!!
Kinda' miss the old girl, already! If this new Mountaineer performs and works as good as the old Challenger, I will feel real fortunate! Already starting to plan the shake down trip to Destin in March!

1retired06, it does apply because, it does have the Lippert 6 point level up!! One of the main reasons we bought this unit....along with a bunch of the other option she has.

I thought of that as well, but not everyone is aware of Dale's background! I am impressed with the way he responded though!

Chris and Bingo, it has been 8 years already since I worked for Lippert. Things have changed with their technology. It is from MOC that I am now learning because, all this "teckno mumble jumble" about these fluids and stiction.......I did not know about back then. But, I could still adjust and repair a "thru frame outboard flush floor" slide room system.
