Radio reception

Can someone tell me if the radio reception is linked to the roof tv antenna? It seems reception is relatively poor and I had not thought to try raising the antenna before putting the Mountaineer in storage.

If I recall correctly, you need to turn on the antenna gain switch as you would if you were going to be pulling in channels via the airwaves only. Make sure you turn it off when finished listening when the rig is not hooked up to shore power as it will cause a battery drain.

Slide the radio out and check to see if there is a co-axial cable connected to it. If not, just add a splitter from the feed going to the television. As mentioned, ensure the antenna amplifier is on for antenna use.

I believe the antenna only pulls FM signal. On mine I have a separate coil antenna for AM right behind the radio receiver unit. The stock radio receiver in mine is not very good. Jim
