This post peaked my interest as I'm "considering" a 2011 F350 Diesel. After spending a great deal of time in Google the only link I could come up with is this:

Garmin, as well as most other GPS gadget providers buy their maps from Navteq. Which BTW, was bought about a year ago and panicked Garmin shareholders, who still haven't come back.
While the Ford Work Solutions technology is probably out in front at this point, I can find no reference to a deal with Garmin in any of the Ford literature. Perhaps Ford has entered into an agreement with Garmin to repackage their data rather than deal with Navteq directly.
What I'm hopeful of is being able to upload maps and POI's to an indash system such as referenced in the link.
It appears the big three still want to be the gatekeeper for data by keeping it "proprietary" meaning they can charge you three times retail for updates.
But it looks like wer're getting closer.
