Roof sensor?

I just purchased a 2019 3791RD

I was on the roof today to do some cleaning. I noticed a bubble in the rubber roof and it looks like there is a wire about 2” long pushing up the rubber. It is locat d toward the rear over the right tip out. I am wondering if this could be a sensor or is it a large staple piping out. It seems to push down with my finger. Does anyone know what this could be?

I have the same unit. It is likely a staple. The only sensors I'm aware of are the ones in the vent fans (rain sensors). Staples working their way out under the EPDM rubber is a pretty common problem. No worries as long as the rubber is not penetrated.

Ok thanks. I think I will need to remove it because it is sticking up and will poke through.

Nope! The general consensus from the smart folks here is don’t do anything. Don’t cut the membrane. If it looks like a staple trying to poke thru don’t try to pound the staple back down. Keep an eye on it. If the thing under the membrane does poke thru or tear the membrane put some eternabond or other micro seal tape over it and fear not. There are lots of threads here discussing same situation.

Ok. Should I put some tape over it as a precaution. It would not take much to poke through. It looks like the 2” leg of the staple is sticking up under there.

Many of us just cut an "X" over the protrusion, removes the staple/screw, install a new stainless screw in it's place, and then cover with a piece of Eternabond. Keystone warrants the roof for 10 years but they want you to wait until it pokes through before they do anything. When it does, I suspect they do the same thing. So why wait and have to deal with a dealer and that pain/agony. Fix it now and forget it (until another pops up ).
