guages

Just would like to know how many of you use gauges and do you think that a transmission temperature guage is a necessity? If you do think it is a necessity which guages are good ones and how hard are they to install. Just got a 2004 Montana 2955rl and am pulling with a 2003 dodge SB desiel 4X4.
Thanks for the input
