Haul Gauge vs. BetterWeigh Mobile towing Scale

Just purchased the BetterWeigh from Curt which is a device that measures your Tow vehicle weight as well as trailer weight, and Pin Weight weight.

Some may be familier with the Haul Gauge device (they are the ones that developed this technology) which is identical, that is because recently Curt bought Haul Gauge and is re-branding it as BetterWeigh, they said that Haul Gauge will go away completely soon and will only be sold as BetterWeigh (according to Curt).

My initial review is it is very subjective in that according to my phone call to Curt it has a 10% variable which is pretty significant (all the media says 5% so that is false). I also found that the calibrating process is very touchy whereas you need to be on flat ground and accelerate in order to calibrate however if you accelerate too fast or too slow it can skew the results by as much as 20% Over and under actual weight. So in order to get accurate calibration i had to go to the Cat Scale weight the truck then it took about 6 times accelerating at different amounts of throttle to get a close to accurate weight.

I still need to take the 5er to the scale to varify the pin weight accuracy however I assume that is dependent on the initial calibration data which is subjective unless you know the actual weight of the truck and can accurately calibrate.

I am still on the fence as I was hoping to use this to balance my loads in the 5er to manage pin weight but there are several factors that are very subjective in order to get accurate data. All the marketing talks about accurate within 5% when I called Curt Tech support about how far it was off based on the Cat Scale weight they then said it has a 10% variance (that is a significant variable especially for us towing near or at Max pin weight with SRW Tow vehicles).

Curious to here what other have experienced with this product

For those not familier here is a little more about this device
