crooked slideout

I need some advice this time. Please. I have a 2007 3475. The dining slide out (the large one) has become twisted or crooked by about 2 inches. I have been underneath and looked at the rack and pinion and it does not appear to have jumped and become mis aligned. my question is How do I realign everything? Bringing it to the dealer is not an option at this time. help please. John

I haven't looked but are the pinion gears pined, set screwed or how do they sync with the shaft. It looks like one gear would have to slip on shaft or the gear jumped a tooth.

I'm going to go underneath tomorrow and take it apart. I contacted a independent RV repair place and was told it would have to have jumped a tooth somehow.

Was told this by a service manager. Move the slide either in or out about 6 inches then return the slide to the start position. Hold the switch 5 - 7 seconds after the slide has stopped. May need to repeat 2 or 3 times.
Nothing to lose by trying this. Easy fix if it works.

Make sure one of the shear bolts hasn't broken in the shaft that drives both gears.

Devil's advocate here. Have you run slide out with RV bad out of level or possibly run it out into power pedestal? Don't see it jumping a tooth otherwise. Would lean toward Ishler's post that something has sheared.

I wouldn't move slide all the way out or in and continue to let it drive for several more seconds. Afraid of blowing hydraulic line.

Witch slide is it? Big slide with kitchen stove and refrigerator?

Here's a shot of the balance shaft with the shear bolt. I wouldn't hold down on the slide switch for an extended period of time after all slides close ... it won't do your pump a bit of good.

crooked slideout repaired.

I disengaged the pinion from the rack and used a come-a-long to pull the slide out square again Re -engaged everything and now all seems to be fine. The slides have been trouble free to this point. Hopes it lasts.
