PM made a good choice. The Duramax/Allison is a proven combo. Also just remember its the most powerful HD on the planet. GBY....

We don't put much stock in those 'test" the only way a product can be tested and the results be meaningful is if they are exactly in the same configuration and tested under exactly the same conditions. That is almost never the case in these so called test. They make for entertaining reading but are meaningless and are miss leading to those many folks who would purchase the product based on those results. It is like the gas Vs diesel comparison..two completely different engines designed to do different things yet folks will buy one or the other based of meaningless comparisons. Example Dodge diesel 6.7L Chevy 6.6L, Ford 6.4L..Of course test results will vary...they are different???

It's funny how all those HP and Torque numbers are within fractions of each other...kind of makes a person feel like they are in it together.
Whatever vehicle trips your trigger...they will all do a fine job.

Agree with Rich. Too many variables there. Apples aint oranges. Besides, they didn't test longevity. Bottom line is all those test show all the brands will do a great job. And much is eye of the beholder. They really liked the dash on one and called the other outdated. But to my eye I didn't like that new one at all (looks cheap and feminine to me) and I really like my "outdated" one. Go figure. Obviously this is a personal taste item. Same for the external looks.

Bitter grapes???

For every study there's another study countering it. Anything good about the '08 PSD? I'd go for one if the money were available.

Hmmmm - the tests never even mentioned that:
  • The Ford headlights are definately installed upside down
  • The GM/Chev headlights are definately installed way too far apart
  • The Dodge headlights are just right, but the truck still looks like it needs a curly tail to go with that big flat nose
You know - good valuable stuff like that .

I'm gonna sit this one out. I think you chevy and GMC guys ought to enjoy this. Have lots of fun, feel confident, and be proud of your purchase. I'll just wait for the next study that says the reverse and then that will be the definitive document and it will be my turn.

Who funded the the report? It is always fun to research who actually paid for the report. While a lot of magazines say they tested these(some actually do) most of the time they just pull down a pr bulletin from some pr agency which sends out a statement.

Everyday I drive my new Ford I love it more. I can't believe the ride, quietness, and features this has over my 02 F250. Love it!

As said above, the results are so close together; no talk of temp, winds, or other atmospheric conditions during the speed (acceleration and stopping) tests (heat and /or wind would make a significant difference); no talking of night visibility problems (Dodge headlights are not the best in the world but some of the older Fords were not so good either -- have no experience with GM products in last 15 years). Lot of things that we need to check when we test drive one before putting our money down. One last comment -- I'd sure like to know where they drove to get that kind of loaded mpg -- must have been down hill with a tailwind because the best I've seen is slightly over 11 on my 06.5 Dodge 5.9L; most of the time I'm in the low 10s to upper 8s depending on the winds.
