Fan not so Fantastic..

My Fantastic fan's dome is sticking, looks like the support arm binds the dome when lifting. I have done the lube and clean deal, does not work.
I wrote the company and they are sending me a new seal for it, they say this will fix the problem.
Free. That is Fantastic that they stand behind their product after 5 years of use.
Good on them!

I was thinking that the Fantastic Fans had a lifetime warranty? Am I amiss? anyone have their documentation handy that can confirm or dispel this? Seems like every post about their follow-up service is a good post.

The way I read it the warr is limited, like a year, but I would have to double-check
Here it is, it's two years.
Fan-tastic Vent Corporation warrants products to be free of manufacturing defects for a two year period* after the original date of consumer purchase or receipt as a gift. This warranty does not include damage to the product resulting from accident or misuse.

We have heard and have had nothing but superb service from this company. The last time we emailed them all we had in hand was a model # and they immediately took care of our sticky problem all the way up here in Canada.

I also mentioned we had another Montana Owner in our park with same situation and they sent extra product for them.

I highly recommend the Fantastic Fans and the Fan-tastic company to everyone who crosses our path.

Ozz, we have a Fantastic Fan on our rig and I noted that every time we open it the lid sticks a little. It's done this since it was new. When the motor begins the lid 'pops' as it begins to open. I found this is due to some of the sealant around the base between the fan and the rubber roof material. There is a spot where the lid rests in the sealant and sticks a wee bit. It's never been an issue so I never messed with it. Though this spring I may revome some of the sealant or maybe even just place a small strip of thin plastic on the sealant where the lid rests to seperate the two.

Mine also began sticking after a year or so. I called Fan-tastic Vent. Lady said she would send me some stuff to clean the gasket and if that did not work she would send new gaskets. I received the cleaner/conditioner a few days later. Cleaned the gasket with the stuff she sent and it has never had a problem since. That was 3 yrs ago.

Kevin, if you contact Fan-tastic they will send your a kit to solve this problem. It's not much of a deal, consists of a cleaning pad product and then a seal treatment that you apply, but it does the job. With ours in the summer heat the longer the period between use the more it would stick. I asked for extra product for myself in case I needed to repeat the process in the future. We have two fans and they both did the same thing.

They sent me the kit, too, but I have not yet used it. While waiting for it to arrive I used a little vaseline on the seal and we've not had the problem since. Next time I'll have their kit to use instead of vaseline.

Here is the response from them today:
Hello Mr. Osbern,

Thank You for the information. Your new black seal kit should arrive in 4 to 5 business days. This kit will also include the silicone to attach the black seal to the base. I will also send instructions on this procedure. There will be more of the 303 packets with this kit. If you haven’t already, clean the inside of the dome lid with rubbing alcohol and then apply the 303 to the lid. This will also help with the sticking.

Please let me know if I can help again!

Thank you,

Jeff Atwell

Gotta love a company that stands behind it's product! It's this kind of customer 1st attitude that will have me buying more of their products.

In December of 2010 Atwood Mobile bought Fantastic Vent Corp. After the purchase their warranty policy changed to two years although it appears that they are still honoring requests that exceed this two year time frame. I had a problem with our a little over two year old fan and after speaking with Jeff Atwood, they sent me an entire fan kit, including garnish. I think it is just that they are trying to limit their exposure like Dometic, Norcold and others have done...

Like everyone else I have that problem also. My thought was that cleaning the lid and putting 303 on the seal should take care of it. We will see as I just did that 2 days ago. Sounds like from what I am reading here thats what the cure is. Hope so!

What happens is that the Black gasket gets brittle and rigid, it gets so bad the lube just doesn't cut it.
The way the thing is built is a bad design, lifting the lid by one bracket on the side of it is a recipe for binding. When it lifts, watch it, you will see the problem. When new, and or when lubed, if the gasket is not hardened, it barely clears.
But does work

Bingo
When I was in communication with them a few years back, they told me that the fans had a lifetime guarantee and there were no strings attached.
