Does anyone other than me hate the "Garden Tub"?
I think it's a waste of space and like the "Neo Angle Shower" much better. I just can't see what is desirable about the "Garden Tub". I'd like to replace it but am unsure about the cost and how to go about it.

Each to his own, we love ours, use it frequently for washing rugs, and, of course, the yorkies. And, we love the extra room for our own showers.
Not sure what would be involved to change it out, flooring issues, issues where it attached to the walls and ceiling. Bet for the really talented re-hab type it would be doable.
Let us know if you do, photos would be great, others may be interested in doing the same. Good luck!

To me the garden tub is just a larger subfloor to the shower which may prevent water from leaking out. We have only used it ourselves and not for animals or anything else, we do store bathroom and sink items in it while we are moving... Don't really understand your dislike of it, but to each his own...Good luck on your remodeling job.....

Jay and Betty,
I guess we have the "garden tub". It is about a foot and half high.... maybe 2 feet? I am ambivalent about them. That is what was in ours so didn't think anything about it. Then they started putting in the ones with just a few inches high rim. They are definitely easier to get in and out. I'd probably enjoy the shorter tubs with my disability. Maybe in our new one....??? Well I can dream.
To replace I'd think all you'd need to do is to measure carefully to see if a new one would fit in the same spot. If it would then just start ripping the old one out. You'll probably have to cut it up some to get it out. Then you'd just have the problem of getting the new one in. In the factory, of course, they put the appliances and shower stalls in before they put in the walls so they have no "fit" problems. But you'd probably be able to get a new one in. Just be sure and measure very carefully. And don't forget to measure the doors and halls to make sure of having enough room to manipulate the things in and out. The plumbing might also be a little bit different but you could do most any adjustments once you got the old one out.
Good luck and let us know what you end up doing ..... if anything. Dennis

The shower could be replaced, but it would be a lot of work and expensive. You would need a 3 piece shower which would be a base and two wall panels. You would also probably need a new shower door, new flooring, and repair or replace the wall paneling. I have replaced showers and tubs in stick houses, but would not want to do a RV shower unless it was absolutely necessary.

For me, it is like many things in life. It is what it is. I would rather be here than in a stick house. Smaller bathing spaces go with the territory.

The only thing I really hate about mine is I keep stepping on the dang drain plug when showering.

I can certainly see where that would work well for you. My boy is 38.

The garden tub is a mixed blessing. Yeah it's harder to get in and out of, but I know people who have left their Montana for the day only to come back and the tub is mysteriously halfway full of liquid. It's the low drain and that's where the water/sewer backs up into. Imagine if those folks had a regular tub. That water/sewer would have overflowed the tub. *Eck*

Having just pulled the shower apart trying to find a leak (which I didn't find) I can tell you it is no fun. The shower was obviously installed before all the walls were installed as it was impossible to pull everything out without breaking something.
Not a task to be taken lightly.

Thanks for sharing your 1st hand experience on this. I won't be removing it unless it irreparably breaks. I just dislike the wasted space that the back corner takes up. What is that supposed to be anyway, a seat?

Our 2011 new 3580RL Big Sky came with a radius one piece fiberglass shower, the glass front has a round two piece door. We like it.
