Actually we would love to go on a Quartsite trip, but there's still this little four letter word keeping us home - work. Ugh!!!

If you want to go, it is a Regimental Dress Parade. 2000+or- young people in full dress regalia. Also a great campus with very interesting history. A great museum. The Citadel was the Military Academy of the Confederacy. I think you will enjoy a tour.

Very cool! I've driven around the Citadel and gone in the chapel, but nothing else. Looking forward to it!

Well, we made our reservations and got campsite 111. That was as close as I could get to the main group. So on the 16th if you see a guy struggling to back in a new Oyster colored 3402RL, come on down and help :-)

Started loading her up yesterday. Filled one of my propane tanks and plugged her in. The countdown begins.

Jim and Martha-- That invitation may have been a mistake with this group there! They may come down with cards and stand by and watch you back in and then flip the cards to give you a score on your job of backing. They have a tendency to do that at the Fall Rally! It's all in fun and you will find this out when you meet the group! Have fun gang and enjoy that warm weather down there!

We just finished loading the food and clothes in the trailer. She's ready to roll. Now, all we have to do is wait for Thursday morning and then we are on our way.

Rosetta and I came to James Island early. We had to do some more mods while we waited for the others to arrive. However, things do not always go as you plan. We got here the landing gear motor burned out. I had to manually let the levelers down. Also, the hydraulic slides wont go out either. No service until Monday.

AN IMPORTANT NOTE: Power from my 50 AMP outlet on the pedestal has low voltage on Line 2 and the EMS shut down. The voltage on Line 2 was so low my autoformer could not raise the power to an acceptable level. We are on 30 AMPS with the autoformer. Check the power before you hook up.

George,

Thanks for the update. Did you let the camp host know power wasn't proper, and are they going to work on it?

Look forward to seeing you guys on Thursday.

John,
I will let them know today. Yesterday it was all we could do to get set up before the heavy rain. I spent a lot of time with the Tech from Camping World trouble shooting the system. After that I did the over ride on the levelers and the rain came in.

UPDATE: I contacted the office about the power problem and a maintenance person came out in less than one half hour and corrected the problem.

Are there any close by grocery store near the James Island CG? I'm not sure I'll turn on the refrigerator until I get to the CG. I'm still working the logistics of getting it loaded. My storage site is level, but I can't have the slides out. I guess I could run the refer overnight before I pick it up and just transfer food that morning. I'd like to hitch up the night before and park in front of my house on the street as I haven't figured out how to get the rig into the driveway because of the slope. But even on the street I have a downhill slope that my prevent the use of the refer until I'm rolling.

These aren't refrigerators in our rigs, they are heat transfer units. They won't get cold when they are empty. They need something to draw heat from. Pack your food in a cooler and load it when you get to the campground or put some bottled soda or tea or something like that in it when you leave home and set it to auto. It will cool off while you travel and be ready when you get to the campground. There are grocery stores nearby.
One more thing, before you try to run the refer on gas, light one of your burners on the stove first. Once it's lit, turn it off. This purges the gas line of air so your refer will switch over to gas.

Jim, I'm leaning that way. I can pack a cooler just like when I tailgate and put a few bags of ice in until I get to the CG. Good advice on putting soda and bottle water in frig while traveling.

?????, we always turn ours on the day before a trip and it is empty and when we go to load it the next day, it is cold??? Have always done it that way, and the advice about turning the stove burner on is correct, that is the method we use. It also takes a few hours for the fridge to get cold, which is why we turn it on the day before a tip.
