Need help making a decision on after market pin box. MorRyde vs. 5th Airborne. Any help would be appreciated.

Trail-Air. Be sure to get the right one that REPLACES you pin box. Air will give you a much better ride.

You will receive positive input for both. I don't think there has been any one that can directly compare both. I was going to when I got our new rig but the dealer removed the Mor-Ryde and installed my TrailAir before I could do a comparison. The Mor-Ryde only reduces the back and forth, no up and down. The 5th Airborne and the TrailAir do both although the up/down is more noticeable. I think the the Airborne w/Sidewinder is a combination of an air bag/shock absorber [up/down] and the rubber insert [back/forth]. The Mor-Ryde is the least expensive and the Sidewinder is the most expensive I think. You didn't mention the TrailAir but it is almost the same as the 5th Airborne. The 1st pivots at the back the 2nd at the front.
edit; I screwed the names up.
TrailAir Tri Glide Fifth is the combi.
The Sidewinder is for short beds.

Can't comment on the others. But I did put a 5th Airborne on mine July last year. I only had a little chucking before and mainly on concrete highways. Now there is almost none. Very happy with it. You can see the 5er moving up down independent of the truck taking out some of the vertical shock in addition to reducing the chucking.
What ever you decide, check the various web sites for pricing. Prices can vary a bit. Tweetys.com usually has good prices and good customer feedback on here.

On my SOB I had a TrailAir and on my new 3585SA I had them put a 5th Airborne pin box on it. In comparison, both have about the same components, but the components are enclosed in the 5th Abn. Also, I am able to hitch up without lowering my 5er "V" tailgate which I always had to lower with the TrailAir. For appearances I also prefer the 5th. All in all, maybe because I was on jump status for 17 years, the name appealed to me.
Bottom line, both do the job very well.

We put a 5th Airborne on last September and the DW said it has greatly improved the ride. Cannot comment on the Mor-Ryde as we haven't towed with one but they all have their good points

The 5th Airborne worked great for me. I put it on just before our trip to Alaska last year and what a difference it made.

Thank you for all the input. I think I will flip a coin. I do think Tweetys has the best price. Is 5th airborne $ 400. better than MorRyde?

I installed a MorRyde after towing with a stock pin box for about a year and really noticed the difference in the chucking. Can't comment on the others. I also use a Trailersaver Air Hitch, two words: LOVE IT1111

You should take a physical look at each one and try to visualize how they operate before you make your final decision, but my personal opinion is yes.

We have also had a 5th Airborne for about 2 years, and we are very happy with the results. Without doing a "ride" comparison, I think the 5-th Airborne is less expensive than the MorRyde or the Trail-Air. We bought ours on sale at CW.
