On the road to Yellowstone

Getting ready to take off for Yellowstone. Plan on catching the 15 in Las Vegas, NV and then at Cedar City UT go over to the 89 and take it north as far as possible.

Any thoughts??

Thanks
Ray

This weekend may not be the best time to go.

thoughts....yep! Stay clear from towing your rig on Beartooth Mountian.

It can be done but the "white knuckle" driving with trailer in tow, takes all the fun out of the trip.

Also if planning to see the Tetons...be warned...Highway 22 (Teton Pass) has 10% grades....the drive is short but it has areas of 10% grades....Yikes!

Enjoy your trip.....passenger in the vehicle have camera ready in hand....you will see some of the most beautiful sites!

PartyCrashers, thank you. Our plan? is to take the 15 into southern Utah and then go east and take 89 north eventually ending up in West Yellowstone, then truck in daily to see the sites.

We do plan on going to Grand Teton NP and then possibly head towards
Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse. I have done white knuckle in the past and don't want to do it again.

I will check in here as we travel to make sure I'm on the right track.

Thanks

Ray

89 in Utah is a beautiful drive and no big deal. can't speak for 89 in wyoming as we went up 189 and 191 again no big deal.

The way I see it is if a tractor tailer rig can go there it will be a piece of cake for my Dodge 3500 and Montana.

However, that said, if you are at all hesitant don't go there cause you wont have a good time.

Capt Kidd, I'm pretty much with you. My Cummins will follow any freight hauler all the way to the coffee shop. lol

Do you know that the loop road is closed from Madison to Norris?

Bigmurf, no I didn't. Looking at the map it appears I won't be going to Norris.

I might live to regret it but other than heading east out of Cedar City and taking 89 north I haven't really planned out the trip. When we went to New Mexico in May it was kind of a daily planning strategy. I hope it works this time also.

Thank You

Ray
