FREE camping in Gettysburg

For those of you contemplating a trip to Gettysburg you may want to check this out

Gettysburg Battlefield Resort

We have not looked into this as yet but I maybe utilizing these free nights when we get ready to pull out of my daughters in July.

When we bought our Montana, the dealer gave us a gift certificate for $1000.00 of free camping at Gettysburg. They also have a resort near Pinehurst, NC. We haven't used it yet but are planning to this summer.

Glenn, We will be spending three weeks at the 1000 trails park in Hershey this summer. I will have to check it out while there. I do wish they would post their rates though.

We were also just given this $1000.00 certificate for this resort after having bought our rig back in March. I got a message last Friday to call someone about it this week. Have not made the call yet - just wondering what is the catch???

BTW - we love Gettysbugh area.

I wonder, do you have to listen to a sales pitch of some sort?

Well I did just notice they are part of Travel Resorts of America.
So you just may be in for a sales pitch.

We sat thru a 90 minute speal for a condo in Cancun for a dinner and a breakfast. I would be more than willing to do that for 3 free nights in Gettysburg! Especially Gettysburg!!!!!!!

There is a sales pitch involved but as the saying goes, "Just say no".

We went through the sales pitch for Thousand Trails in Hershey a few years ago. Said no - got the free weekend.

I called about this one yesterday. They have you come WITHOUT the rig the first time. Then you get the tour, pitch, etc. They said they will provide lunch. We go on June 13. It is a 3 hour drive each way for us. It is supposed to be THIRTY days free camping. Let's see what happens when we say no. It is 30 days ONLY if you plan to purchase? I am just curious why a meeting and tour BEFORE any camping.

Phyllis, I trust you will post back after your visit. I am intrigued by the term "Free Camping" and looking at this campground it really looks nice. Thanks for your time....

Okay - we had our meeting. This campground is part of the Coast to Coast system. We got the usual sales pitch. I told them I NEVER buy ANYTHNG that is sold as a "must buy it this day" deal. Also, they bragged they are part of the Affinity Group. When I told them I heard Affinity was in financial difficulty, they assured me they had not heard that but they sure were not much interested in talking futher.

Bottom line - we have 40 days of free camping (no sewer hookups and only Monday-Thursday) at either the Gettysburg PA or South Carolina campground. There is no expiration date. So not a bad deal for the short time we spent there. As we fulltime starting October we will make use of the days.

Did the price get lower the closer you got to the exit door? I have been told to never come back to a couple of these places.
