Wet bolts

Went into a friends utility and cargo trailer center today and became educated. He has all the parts, shackles, bushings, and lubeable bolts. His Techs make stronger hangers as needed, and he manufactures the cross pieces we call X-Factor. All done for about 1/2 the cost of name brand parts. Am going to take Monty to him for estimate. Will post results.

Just spent the day installing the wet bolts in our unit(bought them at the fall rally). While in can be done by one person(I did) I would recommend two or pay to have it done.

Some people have made their own X-Factor type cross pieces and some frame shops make their own. Some are welded others are bolted. BEWARE If you have any kind of warranty it may go down the drain by not using factory parts. Two differant frame shops who work on 5th wheel RV's told me that RV frame builders warranty's are real touchy on home made or frame shop built cross pieces like the X-Factor.

"BEWARE" ... I believe you may be speaking out of turn based on hear say of employees at a given business. Several of us here on the MOC are quite competent at building stuff at 1/3 the price of the "stealers". Bolting on a duplicate of a piece of steel with 2 flanges on either end is not exactly rocket science. I'll put my skills up against any factory investigation if the need arises as I'm sure do others.

Frank I would use a little common sense in something like this. I don't think the X-factor braces would fall into the category of a warranty void. I don't think some frame shop worker makes policy either.
If a person doesn't feel competent doing work on their unit, don't do it. I stand behind my work.

Hi

My experience with both Keystone and Lippert is they will use any excuse to avoid paying warranty regardless of how it makes them look.
