Yuba City to Crescent City
Travelling to Crescent City on Monday. Planning on an overnight stop near Arcata, Mad River RV Park, however, may be a little far. Anyone know of a nice overnighter before getting to Arcata, maybe 200 miles from Yuba city????
Thanks, Phil & Cathy

I assume you are taking I5 and then 299 West to get to Arcata. JGW is a nice campground just off 5 in Anderson, almost to Redding, and is about 200 mi from Yuba City. We have stayed there many times and like it, but be prepared for warm weather.

We found most of the State Parks in that area had room for out Montana.. There are a lot of them once you get on 101.. You shouldn't have a problem finding a site.. Of course, this is from a gal that does not plan ahead... lol

How about a stop over in Fortuna....50 miles south of Arcata, great park, pet friendly and your fellow MOC'ers are working here for the summer...... Call and let me know. I'll be in the office at noon today(sunday) and I,ll find you a nice 64' pull-thru. Rate $43.56 with discount and that is with tax. Great brew pub 2 blocks away so you don't even have to unhook!!!! The park is www.riverwalkrvpark.com if you want to check it out. Phone number 707-725-3359. Hope to see you and Cathy. Dave and Teresa....dandt

Phil and Cathy,
You might want to try for Garverville. From Yuba City it is about 200 miles. Nearby is an area called Benbow. There is an RV park there called Benbow Valley RV Park. We've never stayed there but it is in a beautiful area. I read some reviews about it and it got decent comments.
We found some of the State Parks to be problematic. Most are simply too small either on the access roads and or the sites themselves. But there are exceptions and pretty much each park has to be looked at one on one.
We have stayed at the Mad River RV park. It is a nice enough park just off the road. There is a bit of road noise but not overpowering. We've also stayed at the River Walk RV park in Fortuna. Nice park just off the the highway but don't remember it being a noise problem. It is a bit pricy but moat all the parks along the coast are the same.
While in that area you may want to visit the little town of Ferndale. It is an old Victorian style town. Also if you are interested in traveling the less traveled roads there is one you should not miss. From Ferndale you can take a narrow and twisty road that travels through some almost pristine lands. If you go the complete loop you will come out
near a little town called Weott which is located on 101.
Good luck and enjoy your trip
Dennis
