Iowa farm crossing and RETURN
We are visiting a Coast Guard buddy from Iowa. He has 200 acres and a stream to cross. He purchased a Railroad Car (used to haul 18 wheeler trailers) for his bridge. On top of bridge.
The steps on Monty reduced the passenger side clearance because the were about 1" too low and was rubbing on the 9" rail of the bridge if I got too close.
EDIT - 7/19/09 - We made it back across the bridge with no problems and on the first attempt. We did not have to backup either. Experience and proper planning worked out. Pictures of both crossings and time on the farm.
Cheers,

John,
When I lived in California, many people used railroad cars for bridges accross streams. Some would put two side by side. They made great bridges.

Good job, John! Great pictures! Looks like fun! That looks like a really nice area. I hope it doesn't rain too much before you're ready to leave! Enjoy the visit.

John, always good to see the corn from my home state. If you go near Milwaukee on the way to the G.L. Rally, give a shout and maybe stop by for a game of pool and a beer.

John, I hope there is a place for you to turn around before you head out. Going forward there is one thing but I don't think I'd want to back all the way out across that bridge!

Gotta say, I think that first photo could be used in a brochure!
And, wanna know, if the photographer had to stand in the water to get it!
