pep1977,
Sorry to hear you are leaving us up here in Washington. Hope you enjoyed your stay. I have towed both 97 and I-5. I actually like I-5 better. 97 is 2 lanes and you go through many little towns where the speed drops to 25 and then back up. It is a nicer drive as far as view goes, but I like having easy access to truck stops for fuel and more than 1 lane in each direction. Just my opinion... Safe travels as you head back to CA.

Well if you are not in a hurry like Dave (LOL), I vote for 97. Beautiful drive. We were towing.
Happy trails.......................

I vote for 97. While it is a two lane road, it is an easier drive and you don't have all the MDA to worry about except the section from Weed to Redding on I-5.

if i did not have time constraints to work with i would probably take 97 since it is prettier, but i need to be in southern california early saturday, then off to new mexico for a week on sunday. so i am going to take I-5 for the quickness and ease of having an extra lane to work with.
