Michelin Agilis tire for tow vehicle

Does anybody have experience using the Michelin Agilis Crossclimate tire on their tow vehicle?

I have been using the Michelin Defender LTX MS and have been not been disappointed in the key areas of puncture resistance, even wear, noise and longevity etc, etc.

The Agilis is identically priced, appears to offer the promise of better tread life with no apparent downsides. It is marketed as being commercial.

I think Michelin has a tire comparison chart on their website. If it’s still there it would be very helpful.

I have them on the truck and 5th wheel smooth ride and very quite. Happy with them so far.

I am in the market to replace the tires on my truck and the Michelin Agilis look like a good choice.

There's a fairly informative video floating around here somewhere discussing "The Dead Wobble" and some rather disparaging remarks about michelins and "old people"!! Maybe it's true? I've been running Michelins on my little 1500 for several, several years and when the stock tires on my dually wear out, I will probably get me some Michelins again. As long as I can get the rating I need for that beast.

I've 14k miles on my '16DRW 3500 with the Agilis tires. Thinking about trading for a '22 and keeping the tires because I like them that much

I have used Michelin tires since around 2007. Very sturdy and last 40-60K miles (I can't remember exactly). I think 40K is low tho.

No movement in that area yet. Just returned from almost a month in the UK dealing with my step father's estate. It was a good tutorial on how to navigate small twisty roads at high speed!

There are some encouraging reviews on the Agilis tire, my only reservation is that Michelin seems to position them as optimal for around town rather than freeway driving. This makes me think that fuel mileage/ rolling resistance may not be quite as good as the Defender. I plan to chat with my local Discount store and see if I get someone who even knows what they are.

The last set of tire on my my truck were Michelin Defenders and while generally happy with them couldn't justify $50/ more per tire vs the Generals on there now. At ~50 K miles 3 still had about 9/32nds tread while the fourth was below legal limits (2/32nds) even with 5-6000 mile rotations. Our Ford Escape Titanium with 21K miles has Michelin Latitudes - and are junk as far as noise, wear and harsh riding as well as quirky steering. The noise and harsh ride were also present on the Defenders. Kinda off of that brand now. The Escape will get a set of, probably, Pirellis or similar touring tires.


Do your comparisons and look at tire reviews just not the fabled name on the sidewall. You may find that other brands have better.

My Discount Tire said Hot Shot trucks are using them and getting high mileage. As far as mileage, it went up for me from the Cooper tires that came off.

I have the Agilis on my 2015 GMC Denali Dually and have been very happy with them. They ride nice empty and perform well when pulling the Montana 3625. This is my 5th dually and usually ran the LTX's but these I think are better riding. I have about 8K on them now.

When describing your tires, you should always use the full-size designation. The LT275/65R18 is a light truck tire. The 275/65R18 is almost always a Euro Metric tire for passenger vehicles and requires a 10% reduction in load capacity when used on a light truck. UTQG codes are not used/valid on LT tires.

Quick update: Based on positive responses I took the plunge and installed the first two Agilis tires in Feb 2022. No Issues after about 5k miles towing and 10k total including one unexpected snowpacked pass while towing. Planning be buying another two shortly. The tires seems to be quiet, good ride and noticeably grippy.
