Cool Vinyl Plank Flooring Scratches

We really like our vinyl plank flooring but have a scratch where the main slide out travels across it. Are there suggestions for staining it?

Is it plank or lino? If it's plank (which would be after market) you would just replace the damaged pieces. If it's lino that's a bit more difficult. I've seen them cut out and replace it but its a major! I don't know of a simple repair.

I was told by my service manager that I had to have these.

Vinyl Plank Flooring as stated. I had it installed -- replaced lino and carpet in main area. It is a scratch--looking for stain ideas. Not ready to replace--yet.

Not sure what will stick to vinyl. Maybe those wax-like crayons that are used for nicks and nail holes in wood, available in paint departments and paint stores.

Here’s a youtube where a guy uses stain pens on plank flooring.

You might try testing a small spot with Old English wood furniture scratch cover conditioner. It works best on darker colors, but I have used it on many different types of surfaces pretty successful. It doesn't like plastic very much though. It just rubs right off. But, nothing lost by trying either except some elbow-grease rubbing it in.

If you call Keystone they have a company that repairs your vinyl floor. We had ours repaired for the same reason and they did a wonderful job. Can’t tell it was repaired at all. Keystone also adjusted our slide and gave us slide skids and no further problems

Go to Home Depot and buy an almond stick. If the scratches are surface only they will disappear with a couple swipes. Works great on most wood surfaces.

I have heard you can use to polish of the right color and stain it. Don’t know if this works. I’ve never tried it.

Part of your fix should include finding the cause of the scratch occurring. Look for staples or other sharp projection on the slide’s underside. Delrin adhesive backed pucks (available at hardware store) or strips glued to the underside can also prevent the vinyl flooring from further damage. Another possible fix would be to raise the slide out a small amount via the adjustment bolts/nuts under the slide out.
