Jump starter to run slides out

I did this one time with a jump starter without regular battery installed in last camper and worked okay on that camper with one battery. Now thinking to run the slides out and in with newer 1200 amp jump starter with 12 volt battery pack should be able to do with this. This would be easier to do than take the two camper batteries have on the new camper to the storage lot. I keep the 2 batteries at home on maintainer. Any dangers to this other than "correct" hookup between portable battery pack and camper connections? Thanks

I would be concerned the jump starter voltage would drop too much if it is not rated for the load. If it is rated, I do not see an issue.

Sharing the specifics on the jump starter may get you a better answer

That’s what they do on the RV lots all the time. So yes, it’s fine to do.

Just one battery will work.
It does have a pretty hard pull down on a battery.

Recommend you leave your batteries installed. Make sure you have a full disconnect set up vice the partial in the convenience center. Use a small portable solar panel to keep your batteries topped off - you can connect it for 48 hours every month or so. Much easier than moving batteries.

Have thought about a portable solar but keeping hooked up for 48 hours in a storage lot? Might grow legs and what does a good one cost? What concerned me is finally read the manual on the new jump starter/battery pack since we are "staying home" and was bored. Our April camping trip's reservation in Pensacola was canceled by the Navy CG. Manual said to not jump start a car without a battery installed in the car as it might harm the car's electrical system. Want to make sure it will not harm the system in the camper. Can't think of why it would but not an auto mechanic. Jump starter is easier to haul and use instead of lugging the two or one battery there. Storage lot is new to us since we moved and can not keep hooked up at home as before. No power at lot. Thanks for the advice. Will take the jump starter.

I have used my jump starter pack many times when my batteries are low and I have no access to shore power.

I would think Missouri winters are similar to Tennessee. I leave my battery in year round but always disconnect the negative cable. Have never had a battery too weak to raise the 5'er coming out of storage. If it was low I would just jump it off the truck but your battery pack should resolve the problem if ever needed.

If the jump starter voltage drops too low, the motor driving the slides may overheat before the slide comes in all the way. Even though the motor works the next time, the overheating does shorten the life of the motor. I reccomend always using at least 2 batteries unless it's an emergency situation and the only way to do the slides. If you use it, always do them from largest to smallest, because the voltage will start going down with each slide and it will be more likely that the voltage will be too low for the larger slide after smaller ones are done.
