Tell me your Carlisle experiences.

I had a Marabomb blowout yesterday and had little choice except for a Discount Tire store about a mile away. I guess if you're gonna have a blowout that's about as convenient as it gets. The guy was very nice and even loaned me a floor jack to take back to put on the spare. I had various ages of Marabombs all but one was over three years old. I just had him replace all four with Carlisles.

For those who have had personal experiences with Carlisle, how much luck have you had with these?

My parents were following us last summer going to Myrtle Beach and we were about 40 miles from the beach and a Carlisle blew on his Flagstaff TT. These tires only had about 400 miles on them. When he bought the Flagstaff new he brought it home from the dealer and put it on jack stands and replaced the Chinese tires with Carlisle's. He thought he was getting a better tire which was a higher Load Range and the tread wrapped around the axle when it came apart. Did not mess anything up. The tire dealer paid him for the replacement tire that was purchased at Camping World at Myrtle Beach.
My 2015 Montana has G Rated Goodyears on it.

Carlisle ARE Chinese tires. Nothing but trouble with mine.

stungjoe, you don't say what rig you have, and it would make it easier to say whether those tires might be OK. On lighter rigs, those tires work for some, but on the heavier Montana's, most have better luck with the 14 ply tires.

Thanks for the replies. Like I said I was in no position to shop around. I will have to deal with the tires later on. I use my Montie for work and don't regularly tow it anyways. If the price of oil doesn't come back up it may be a moot point as the next thing going on the 5er will be a for sale sign

It's a 2008 3600RE with a generator in the nose as well as a washer/dryer combo. So I'm estimating GVW at near 15K

Our 2010 Big Sky came with Carlisles. Had a flat on the way to dealer. Then, another flat on our second trip. So, our experience wasn't good. I believe H John Kohl is running H series Carlisles. I think, if he joins in here, will say he likes them. We have gotten G614's through Discount before. So, mixed reviews.

Had them on one of my horse trailers, don't recommend the E loads. No experience with anything heavier.

I echo the above responder; Google them and you will be horrified at the stories. We lost one on our second outing when our rig was new. The blowout did $1800 in damage to the trailer. Plus I ended up replaceing all 4 with G614's, plus new rinms because OEM wheels would not support 110 PSI. Carlisle do nothing for me. Nor did Keystone. Real tough lesson, but my G614's have gone thousands of miles since with not one problem. Peace of mind is a wonderful thing.

My Big Sky came with Carlisle, I had 2 blow outs and damage to the rig. Don't recommend them.

Had D rated Carlisles on an SOB way back. My experiences with them taught me all about how careful one must be about trailer tires. I replaced them with Marathons, because they were the goto replacement for rigs of that size.

Then I traded in the SOB and bought my heavier Monty with E Rated Missions, and continued to learn that it's not just about how you take care of tires, but what kind you get. I replaced the Missions with Marathons, then found them to be problematic from this forum. However, I had NO problems with the ones I had and now use Maxxis. I am convinced my Marathons lasted so well only because I bought them new myself and did not abuse thme (careful with curbs, no speeding, proper inflation at all times, etc.) Many new Montys had Marathons installed at the factory and I am also convinced the RV transporters abused them when they delivered the rigs. As an experienced transporter, while I did not abuse the RVs I transported, I witnessed many other transporters zooming by me beyond the recommended speed limit of 65mph for most trailer tires.

I am sure most tires will do well with proper care, and the key is to not only religiously monitor the tires yourself, but maintain them 100% of the time. For example, my rig is not moved unless, the tires are checked for proper pressure prior to ANY trip and then each and every day prior to the next time the rig will be on the road. Thanks to this forum, I've learned so much about more than just tire care.

I have a 2014 3582RL and it is one month shy of 2 years. 2 weeks ago I had a bubble on one of the Carlisle. I did not want to take a chance and drive the 950 mi trip home on these tires. I stopped by Discount Tire and they had some Hartland 14 ply tires for 800 out the door. Good looking tire. Like they say peace of mind is worth a lot. My Carlisle always looked like they were low on air and always had a bulge. These new tires do not look that way. So far very happy with these tires.

They are ST tires. No different than the ones you took off JUNK. Use them at your own risk.

I put Carlisles on my Cedar Creek and most recently on Monte prior to trading it in. I never had a problem, China or not. Great to shop USA but sometimes it's not possible.
