All of the diesel trucks are amazing. Remember running a 460 or 454 that turned 3000rpm at 60mph using fuel like crazy?

Not only that but you loose 40% of your power at 11,000 feet. Diesel engines like all turbo engines don’t loose much power till about 12,000 feet and then not much. We were out West with my brother’s 454 Chevy. We had insulation dripping from under the hood it got so hot. He brought it home and got a Diesel Chevy.

Monarch Pass 11312'; BUT, the hairiest climb and descent so far was Teton pass (8500?) ; 10% grades and hairpins; next time I do that I will set up trailer brakes a little tighter (and prolly leave DW at home); engine brake is a life saver, but even so it was hard to keep it recommended speeds without going over the limit.

Enroute to Alaska 2014, we left Pueblo to Grand Junction via Hwy 50. 2011 F250 diesel pulling FW following wife's Jeep we went up Monarch Pass (11,312ft) using 'tow mode' without any issues. (gas Jeep choked a bit). Not sure other major grades on AK Hwy.

Am planning this in our travel this summer - June/July. Kids may also drive up from SWFL.
