Lippert has what is basically a TSB out on this issue, although they call it Lippert Components, Inc. Informational Publication; Lip Sheet -0058. It's a well known issue that the 50amp breaker needs to be replaced with an 80amp when experiencing those symptoms. The fact that the tech didn't know that and then went with a diagnosis that wouldn't cause those intermittent operation symptoms is odd (not that I'm surprised based on my experiences with my local RV service dept).

INDICATIONS
Due to high amp draws on hydraulic slideout systems, it may be necessary to upgrade the circuit breaker. During slideout operation, the higher amperage requirements on the hydraulic pump unit may cause the system to draw the voltage down. This voltage drop increases the amp draw and forces the 50A Auto Reset Breaker to trip and shut the system down. If the circuit breaker continues to trip, upgrading the 50A breaker to a breaker with a higher amperage rating will solve the issue without harm to the system. Wiring and breaker sizes are to be supplied by the RV Manufacturer. This applies to systems with and without individual room controls.

ENHANCEMENT CONDITIONS
Operating in extreme cold temperatures
Carrying heavy items in slideout storage area
Adding protective slideout awnings
Operating the slideout with all lights on in the trailer.
Operating with a low battery

Cold weather tip.
Turn on your furnace and put a heater in your basement to warm the underbelly before retracting.
Still heading east this morning. It was 36deg in Hagerstown Md.
Turned on the furnace AND put a heater in the basement. Got the basement temperature to 58 deg before it was time to leave. Auto-retract worked fine.
