Bet it was some "trailer folk" that needed it more than your friend. He should have elecfrified the genset as well as chain it. I still remember my first "bite" from an old ford model t coil that left a big impression on me. John

The Police told him there are a few low life's that live Bouse and travel that road every day. When there are less people out there and are spread out they start missing stuff. Being a Canadian we are not allowed to carry something that can send a little lead their way. They usually boon Dock on the south side of I-10 east of the east exit into Quartzsite and never had any problems so they will go there only from now on.

It is always tempting to think that way, nothing worse than a thief, but you can't fire at someone for stealing, only if your life is in danger, or someone endangering a person with arson.
I am no Lawyer, so seek council for the real facts on this matter.

Didn't they used to hang horse thieves and cattle rustlers? I'd bet in some parts of the country, they still do. We just don't know about it!

The secret is not to let the body be found.

A few years ago there was a rash of generators being stolen around Quartzsite. It turned out to be the driver of a honey wagon and some friends. The driver spotted generators while doing his rounds and returned after dark

We deal with a guy who lives on Hanging Tree Road in Montana. You certainly wouldn't won't to go to prison or get shot over something that can be easily replaced.

I can certainly understand and relate to the feeling of being violated and the resulting justifiable anger. I had over $1000 worth of tools stolen off my front lawn.
Sorry to hear that some low life stole from you. Karma has a way of catching up with people. Both good and bad.

This has been a problem for some time. When we were at the "Q" 2013 local law enforcement arrested a guy fro a neighboring town who had 20 generators in his garage. We have ours mounted in the back of our TV. We may not stop them from getting stolen but they better come with more than bolt cutters. lol.

I devised a simple battery powered alarm that attaches from the genset (or bicycles, or whatever) to the trailer. Being attached by 20 lb. monofilament line, it is nearly invisible in the daytime, and totally so at night. If the device it is attached to gets moved more than about 4 inches, the alarm sound very loudly outside. Adds a little protection, and a lot of piece of mind.
