Sometimes a Service Surprise can be a good thing
We were camping in Florida near Hook and started having Zone 2 A/C problems that's I've discussed on the MOC. I thought about how great it would be if I could just swing by Camping World in Fayetteville, NC on the way home. So Hook called his service buddy there and he told me to stop by and they'd see what they could do and maybe at least diagnose what part to order. I got there an hour before closing and was planning on camping on the lot until the next morning for them to take a quick look at it. They told me to just back it up to a bay door with 50A plug and they'd look at it then. They quickly guessed it was a bad connector and too many of them on the sensor line so they wanted to just connect the sensor to the board directly, but they needed more time, so they said to camp right there at the bay door. The next morning while they were fixing the connector on the A/C I got them to install 3 vent fan covers, plus found a bunch of stuff I couldn't live without that I didn't know existed before I came in.
A very pleasant experience. Thanks to Hook for making the call and to the CW service folks for their working me in.

And you probably made their good customer experience list by buying other stuff. A big win all around I'd say. And you thought they were doing you a favor... ? Visiting CW has always been dangerous for my wallet but more times than not, you gotta enjoy the visit.

One learns to not go into the store at a dealership or CW because you or the DW will always find something that "you can not live without"! You will find this out no matter where you are!

Since we had to wait most of the morning, we got to test out all of the folding camp chairs. Martha found the best one and we bought it. Sometimes you don't try out a chair long enough before buying it. CW had received a big shipment that morning and the staff was all over the floor stocking shelves and they helped me find a lot of little stuff to solve problems like better chair tie down straps.

OK, you were on the right path with a bad sensor resistance? Did they change the connector on the wire that plugs into the board on the bedroom A/C?

Well, I'm not completely sure. Mark is the Dometic expert at CW and he said the sensor is installed with a connector, but Keystone routes it to the low profile A/C unit. But the Low profile unit has it's circuit board in the roof part. So they have another cable from the bedroom to the roof. So you have 2 connectors in the bedroom and one on the roof. He just routed the original sensor to the roof and plugged that cable into the circuit board. Or at least that's how I understand it. Apparently the type of Dometic A/C unit and model of CCC2 thermostat have caused lots of issues. This is why you can't exchange CCC2 between rigs due to switch setting in the A/C unit and the CCC2. In my Monty, I have 1 low profile in Zone 2 and a standard non-heat pump unit in the living room. I know I didn't get all of this right, but I think I have it all working now and can't wait for warm weather to test it all.

Thanks Jim, You can swap the CCC2 between rigs. Just need to do a relearn on the stat. Push 2 buttons and 5 seconds later you are done.
Same for the boards. Same part numbers, just set the dip switches to where they are and what is connected to them.
My guess is Keystone used a extension on the bedroom sensor and one of the ends was not crimped right and CW ran it straight to the board.
Jim
