Tank, Replacement OEM Or Aux/Toolbox Combo Tank

Every so often we want to drive a longer day, and would like to do it without refueling, about an extra 30 gallons or so would work. The problem is do we replace the OEM tank, get an aux tank or get an aux tank/tool box combination? I've talked to Transfer Flow, and checked out RDS and Delta. I'm getting different information from each as to what is legal and what is not legal, especially regarding gravity feed. We have a dually so weight is not a problem.

Any information from users would be appreciated.

I have an 07 Dodge dually and have installed a Transfer Flow 50g low profile tank. It is computer controlled, and really works great. 80g will get me further than I really want to drive in a day. Got my best price in Elkhart IN at Dan's Service Center. Not one problem. Kerry

I replaced my OEM tank with a TF underbed. This means I now have 45 gals instead of 26. Longer legs is nice. In four months of RV'ing full time, I have only had to pull into one station with fiver attached. Just have to remember to fill up before leaving a CG. My BIL has a TF 75 gal in his bed plus his OEM. Seems like a lot of gas, but he uses it to save $ by only filling at certain locations that he knows are a bit cheaper. Don't ask me where these are.

It's also nice to have the extra in case of unscheduled detours, if you catch my drift......

I went with TF because of the legal aspect and the fact they seem to be the industry standard, albeit a little expensive.

Who knows, choice is yours, this is just my opinion.....

I've about decided to go with the 56 gallon OEM replacement tank from Transfer Flow. A little more expensive, as noted, but a very good tank, professionally installed with a three year/36k warranty.

I went with the 50/gal transflow,total 85 gal.Very happy I did

We have an 07 Dodge 3500 MegaCab and had the TF replacement tank installed, the first one TF had done on a 3500 MegaCab. Great deal I really like it.

It helps that I live in Chico where TF is and they only had to have the truck for half a day.

I highly recommend the 56 gal replacement tank. One reason is that if it then seems like you want even more you can always add the 30 or 50 gal across bed tank.

I went with the RDS 30 Gal Aux Tank/Tool Box. Was close to Perry Florida one day, just went over and picked one up at the factory. Took me all of 45 minutes to install it. Tank cost and other install hardware ended up under $625.00. Gives me 65 Gal on board which i figure is enough to get to the next Flying J.

MUDCHIEF talked me into a Auxillary/tool tank addition I just installed the tank. with the 35 gallon factory plus the 65 gallon auxillary........ Next stop THE MOON, ha ha. It is nice to be able to pick and choose where you stop. This should give me enough to get where I am going and after I drop the 5th wheel I can pick a refuel location any where I want. It is a great feeling!!!!!!!!

I installed a 52 gal. replacement tank from Titan tanks. It only weighs 38 lbs. and replaces the factory tank and I have the Duramax short bed. Cost of tank was $925.00.

I am going with the Transfer Flow cross-the-bed tank on my next truck. Will either be the 50 or 98 gallon tank.
