Ford 08 incentives

I can't stand it.. Ford is now offering a 3K cash back incentive on the 08 SD.(as I predicted some time ago) there is also talk that the 1K customer loyalty incentive applies..help me resist this temptation.. (see the FOMOCO site for verification)

Resistance is futile rich. Go for it, the 08 Diesel is indeed a Super machine.

Rich, after seeing Ozz's new truck I would say go for it. Remember when you were looking at that new Montana? I told you to just write the check and don't look back. Now have you regretted doing that? If not do it again. Like I said before you only get one trip on the merry-go-round.

I say to go for it Rich, you can't take it with you! Now I wonder if the local dealer that said he would give me the GM employee discount will do the rebates also!
After getting the early Duramax and the injector problem in California, I think I'll wait for a couple more years for the NEW Ford diesel. Kind of makes you a little nervous.
I do really like my GMC, but I will intertain the Ford offer when I get ready to trade!

Rich,
Your V-10 fuel economy seems to be the best around, heck it is "almost" comparable with the economy of the diesels -- towing of course. For $40,000 you can buy enough gasoline to last you the rest of your RV'ing life. I say leave the money in the bank and when the time comes that you need to replace your V-10, then buy the diesel.

If you want to go fast, check this out.
2008 6.7L Cummins 0-60 times.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just read this in the new (Oct.-2007) issue of Four Wheeler magazine. On page 8 in the editor's "limited articulation" section: "Finally, yours truly spent a couple of days near Detroit, piloting the new-for-'08 Dodge pickup trucks over some test tracks at Chrysler's Chelsea proving grounds. You'll be reading more about these new trucks in the next couple issues, but long story short: The new 6.7L Cummins is a monster of a motor (can you say zero to 60 in under seven seconds - in a factory one-ton?), and the new 4.7L V-8 Dakota seems upon first ride to be an improvement over the old truck in virtually every way."

0-60 in under 7 seconds in a factory stock 1-ton!!! For comparison, the 2007 6.7L Cummins dually with 4.10 gears tested a www.pickuptruck.com ran 0-60 in 8.62 seconds (the Chevy did it in 8.74 secs and the f-350 turned in a 9.58).

Well..Execpt for Montana Sky you guys are no help at all. I don't really need a new truck you know..I just want a new truck. I don't really need a diesel..I just never had one of my very own and I just want one.For the 10 or 15% of the time a diesel would perform better it makes no sense to spend the extra money.....Having said that, I built me a 08 F-350 6.4L,CC,LB,4X4,Dually and E mailed it off to my dealer to work up the X plan price, All applicable incentives, trade in for my 05 and bottom line price... I can't stand it???? and thanks for all the support in helping me resist the temptation. Oh...and what in the world does going 0 to 60 in 7 or 9 seconds have to do with pulling a near 13K 3400?????

That stat if for the times that your DW is on the toilet, you can't wait, and the CG bathhouse and toilet is on the other side of the CG. At that point in time 0-60 in seven seconds can be a life saver!!!! LOL!!

Maybe this will help you decide.

SEMA eNews, Vol. 10, No.31 - Aug 02, 2007
CONSUMERS PAY PREMIUM FOR USED DIESELS
Consumers are paying more money for the diesel option of a used vehicle than what that option originally cost new, according to a recent AutoWeek article. For example, the cost of the diesel option for the 2005 Mercedes E320 CDI sedan was $1,000, but the cost of this option rose to $2,500, according to Black Book used-vehicle price guide reports. The article notes that the reason for this lies in the fact that consumers want fullsize car and trucks with better fuel economy. In fact, consumers will buy over half a million diesel vehicles this year, and that number will double by 2011, according to the article. A stronger resale value for diesels signal consumers’ acceptance for diesels, which is giving rise to the OEMS bringing out more diesel cars and light trucks to the U.S. market in 2010. According to the Black Book data nearly every diesel-engine option is selling for more used than it did new, and the percentages below show the degree to this is occurring today

Well by the time we got the 300k miles or so that everyone says the diesel engine will last for we would have replaced nearly every part in the truck and the body would have rusted off the frame..if there was any frame left and the rate we put miles on a TV it would take @ 20 Years to do the 300K miles so what would be the trade in value on a 20 year old rusted out diesel????

We always think we will have our trucks forever, but often trade. I know I thought the '06 would be my last......wasn't.

Except in one case where it was in our plan we have never had a vehicle over 5 years old..more likely 3 years old. We have leased autos since 1988. No matter what motor was in the 05 F-350 we would be looking for another truck about now as we do not keep them past the warranty period..Particulary since we are towing this 3400 anchor.

Rich, you’ve used just about every possible excuse for not getting the new truck, but then you’ll just start talking about a new “Montana” so just do it and get it over with!!!!!!(LOL).

The 3K incentive offer ends Sept 3rd..I am as we speak crunching numbers.. However they started out with a 1K owners loyality incentive, That did not work, then they went to a very low APR incentive..that did not work, Now they are at a 3K incentive ending Sept 3rd..my prediction is that also will not work. Flash..fuel prices are super high,,,,Folks are being laid off , the economy sucks..people are not buying vehicles..they still have 07's on the lots they can not sell..If the 3K incentive does not cause a increase in sales my prediction is they will go to a higher incentive.. It may be wise to wait them out...the economy will not get better.. I like these games...

Rich when the dealer give you the price with the x plan have him give you a price without it. I got the price without the x plan and then ask for the x plan price and he said he would have to raise the price. With the x plan there is a set price that they have to charge. I had two dealers tell me this.

That dealer was unscrupulous. The various plan prices are set by FOMOCO.It would be the same at a dealer in Ohio or California, Even at employee plan prices the dealer still makes a reasonable profit.

Heck I should have let you use my truck for a week or so this summer Rich. They are about the same except the diesel. We haven't had much time to camp this summer and the truck is itching to hook up to something heavier than a parade float and go for a road trip.

Here is a website I use to look up x plan prices on vehicles that are in stock or to build one. I have bought my last three Fords using the x-plan. There is no arguing on price only what they will give you for a trade in.
