Simonsrf,
Man, I haven't got one mile on this baby yet, I'm committed to this deal, it just has to be worth all the work! Doesnt it??????
Broome101,
It was $1495.00, and that is pretty inflated, as everything in the catalog is around 20% higher than shopping elsewhere.
Look up naylorrvs.com, it's in the catalog.
Steve and Rich, I measured it, and it's 18" above the truck bed.

sreigle ....... thanks for the tip about the brake control deal I have a 1 ton chevy dually and a reese 16k slider and have this little slack problem I hate the way it takes up slack pulling away from a stop or on heavy braking I drive trucks for a living and never have this problem unless the 5th wheel jaws are worn but they have a adjusting nut just for this I am pretty sure the slack comes from the slide portion of the hitch the pin jaws still look like new so I guess I need to keep looking for the right hitch and brake control set up the air hitch is a cool concept to me

Tim,
Steve was correct on my hitch, I do think we all will have some slop.
Ozzie, a few days ago, I had 29 items on the list, I am down to 17, so I am SMOKIN!, but we always leave the roughest ones until the last. I'm finishing wiring from the Two golf Cart batteries, through the fuse, to the Perko switch and into the inverter, all the heavy 12 volt wires have to be specially made, or just buy the right length. Also, I have to vent the new battery boxes, lots of fab. work.

Maybe it is just the camera angle but that does look high..Let us know how the leveling works out.

Just measured mine..Must have been the camera angle. My Draw-tite 16K hitch is 17 inches off the bed of the F-350 Dually. The 3400 is perfectly level and we have plenty of up and down adj if neded..

Ozz, thanks for the hitch height info. Yours is at 18. A friend emailed theirs is at 16. Mine is currently at 17 so I'll leave it there until I can hitch it up and see if it needs adjusting.

Tim, other than with this Ford controller we've always had that slop, at least part of the time. Adjusting the controller seems to help but if you do a rapid stop you may find some slop when you start up again. Or if you stop on a hill, etc. I never did get it all the way out other than with the current setup. Some brake controllers have two adjustments. One is for how hard it brakes and the other is for how soon it brakes after (or before) the truck brakes kick in. That latter adjustment seemed to be the one most affecting the slop.

Tim, we had the Prodigy before getting the builtin controller. It's the best aftermarket controller I've used and I've used a bunch. I have not used the Jordan, which also is supposed to be very good, but the Prodigy was pretty much plug and play installation and I liked that. We still had some slop and banging with the Prodigy but it was a much smoother controller than others I used and it didn't need adjusting for temperature, etc. Set it and forget it.

Ozz,

It looks like my toolbox is similar to yours. I'm wondering how you mounted it to the truck bed. I bolted my through the bottom of the toolbox and through the bed.

One day I noticed a smell coming from somewhere and determined it was coming from the toolbox. When I opened it up, I noticed that the rug I had put in the bottom of the toolbox was mildewed and my bag of tools was rusting. Since I park my truck on a slight downhill grade, the bed collected enough water when it rained that the water seeped through the mounting holes and wicked into the toolbox.

It took a fair amount of sealer around the bolt tops and flat washers to solve the problem. It now stays dry inside.

Rich,

I also have a Draw-Tite 16K hitch. The hitch plate when level is 16.5" above my truck bed. Mine is installed in it lowest position. And, the front of my Monty rides about 1.5" high when the truck is level.

It seems like my pinbox must somehow be lower than yours (although it is in its highest mounting position) or perhaps the tires/suspension allows the rest of the coach to ride lower.

As I have mentioned in the past, I have discussed this with Montana CS many times to no avail. I have been told by Dexter that the front being up or down has only a small effect on the pin weight, but could have a significant effect on weight distribution between tandem axles. Perhaps one day I will weigh the axles to see how much of a problem I may have.
