New 3295 owner, shakedown trip

Hi all, Ellie and I purchased a 3295 a while back and will be taking our initial shakedown voyage starting 02/03/05. We are excited as can be and should be full timing it by the end of February. We'll take baby steps to get used to the rig. We'll be pulling our Monty with a F250 Super Duty Powerstroke Turbo Diesel. MOC seems right friendly and we won't be strangers around here.

You have got yourself a very popular unit. And of course, I like your ride. Hard to beat them Fords (some will disagree). We'll want to hear about your great adventure as you progress. Bon voyage...

Like the trailer [s]but question the ride[/s]. lol

Good luck, enjoy and remember to start over and try again. Better not to bend it and be a little embarrassed than to bend it, be mad, and embarrassed. Ben there, done it, bought the tee shirt, and sold it.

Welcome Gary and Ellie,

As a fulltimer there is one lesson I learned early on and it is... What's the rush? There is no place you gotta be so take your time gettin there. There is no need to be in a hurry. You have all the time in the world to get it done.

Welcome aboard, Gary and Ellie. We, too, think you made excellent choices with the 3295 and the Ford. By now you've begun that shakedown cruise. Be sure to post back how it went and your adventures as your fulltiming experience nears.

Gary and Ellie, Welcome to the MOC forum and congrats on you new wheel estate. We think you have also chosen a great unit with the 3295RK. We are truly enjoying ours. We are semi full time, chose to keep our vacation home in WV for family get togethers. Have been living in our unit this trip since Dec. 27 and enjoying every day of it. Will be looking forward to hearing a report on your shakedown trip. Enjoy.

Ellie and I returned home from a 3 day shakedown maiden voyage (if ya wanna call it that). I learned a very stern lesson only a few blocks away from home. I pulled my rig over to the curb on a residential street so we could "fine tune" our mirrors. I didn't take a tree branch overhanging into the street very seriously and it tore the rubber roof membrane along the right side of our 3295RK....OUCH! Tears in three places. I've got a good insurance policy and took it back to my dealer today and will get the entire roof replaced. Ouch!!! Other than that...I was probably a lot of fun to watch as I spotted my rig, leveled, set up and learned the hard way, LOL. Words can't describe how Ellie and I felt spending the first night in our Monty. We have lots of time on our hands and plan on taking it easy. Thanks for the howdy do, btw.

Ouch on the roof! But I'm glad to hear you otherwise had a great first trip.

Gary, How well we remember that first roof puncture. Ours happened in a campground under some low hanging branches. Fortunately it was only a small hole and could be repaired. We would like to see a fiberglass or tougher roof offered by Montana. After that first incident we have been much more aware of obstacles, but have gotten a couple more small gouges. (which have also been repaired) As Tom says, no one can really see that roof except us when we are up there cleaning it. LOL, but we know there are a couple of repair spots on it. Just remember the first "OUCH" hurts the worst. Glad you had an enjoyabole shakedown.

Hi Gary and Ellie: Welcome to the MOC the people here are the greatest. I don't have much experience to offer (still wet behind the ears) but I poke my nose in from time to time. We also have the same model and we love it. Still putting our personal touches to it.

At least the meeting with that branch was close to your home. Also the fact that they're going to replace the whole roof is a big plus I think. Which reminds me, it's been awhile since I've been through the Chicago area, but watch your trailer height through some of the roads around there if you ever happen to be in the area. Low over hangs and bridges there. Have a good time in your travels.

Glad to hear that your first trip was a sucessful one. We won't mention that little problem with the tree branch. I hope all your future trips will be safe ones.
