Over the last 15 or so years, there has been a basic difference between GM and Ford. GM has chosen to contantly change and improve the Duramax. On the other hand, Ford opted to ditch the old reliable 7.3. Came out with the 6.0...many problems, ditched the 6.0; came out with the 6.4. many problems, ditched the 6.4; came out with the 6.7, looks like they finally got it right. All this time the Duramax has been getting better and better. You'll love that truck.

Had a 2008 GMC K3500 SRW. Now have a 2015 GMC K3500 SRW. World of difference between the two. The 2015 has more features, and a big plus is the exhaust brake. The other big one is the 2008 had a max GVW of 9900 pounds, the 2015 has a GVW of 11,600. Needed that for the newer heavier Monty. Mileage seems to be a bit better with the 2015, however with only 4000 miles on it, it's just starting to wear in, so expect it to get even better. Plenty of power as well. No regrets at all.
