When To Level and Fuse Identiications - Montana Owners Club

We have been leveling after we get the rig off the truck, then hooking up water, electric, etc., then putting the slides out. Seems like it never gets exactly level this way. Is it better to level after the slides are extended?

Also, our fuse panel descriptions are unreadable. Probably not labeled until the labeler was lying on the floor and was also not good at penmanship. I called Keystone and all they said was to remove a fuse and see what would not work, then label it ourselves. Seems like a company that big would be a little more scientific about it. It should be standardized. Anyone got any better suggestions?

I have always (Level-up and non-level-up) leveled the unit before extending the slides and the only thing I do first is chock and hook up shore power. With regards to the fuses, I think Keystone hit the nail on the head. Our three rigs were in no way consistent on the labelling of the fuses or breakers. Just my two cents worth.

I always level first. Hard on slides when operating unleveled. Hard way on the breakers and fuses is the only way I know

Same as above. Level first, then slides.

Have never had much in the way of electrical problems, so have never messed with the fuses and breakers much. Only one I did was a breaker to the rear AC that went bad and I replaced it. And it was actually labeled correctly.

As with everyone above I level first. One thing to consider is where you are judging level inside. We discovered early on that what is level in one part of our rig isn't level in another. Decide where you want it level and then reset Levell-up to match that would be my suggestion. Can't help on the labels. When we went solar we moved several things and relabeled it all. I think the same guy did mine as yours. I could barely read most of it and I thought I was a bad writer.

Think Keystone and other MFRs hire retired Doctors to label the fuse panels.

I level first. If you have the six point system you can manually adjust level and recalibrate it to the new reference points.

As Dick said ... there are many different opportunities to call your "master level" spot. When my main floor is level, my dining table leans slightly outward ... my countertop around the sink is level, but not by the stove. Pick where level is most imortant to you and level to that area.

I level, hook up power, and have a drink. AFter the drink I find I am fine with the first two steps, but often need to repeat step 3. It has always worked well for me and I am happy with the results.

Great advice Kyle. I think when I get back home this evening, I will run thru those steps to make sure I have it right. I am pretty sure I missed that last step.

There are days that I just skip 1 & 2 and go straight to 3. Repeat...... Especially after driving rush hour traffic just about anywhere!

Level with slides in. Have to agree about picking a spot in the trailer and stick to it. The DC and AC panel labeling was bad. DW and I pulled fuses and tripped breakers and relabeled with a label maker.

I guess there are no standards when they wire these rigs. Who ever is doing the wiring on the rig that day does it the way he want. I say this because when I got my camper I called keystone because I wanted the wiring diagrams for my camper. I always get the maintenance manuals and wiring diagrams for all my vehicles. Keystone told me that they don't have wiring diagrams for them.

I hook up electric first and let the EMS check it out. Then I level and put out slides.

I had to take a pic of the scribbles of my labels so the dealer could interpret them. In my case things are even more confusing. I have a big inverter with the items it runs having a separate panel. I have no idea if the breakers in the main panel are still effective for the circuits the inverter controls. The dealer didn't tell me and I haven't checked. I just used a label maker and put a warning in the main panel.
