When using a generator with the hard wired PI Surge Protector with the remote, all you need to do is turn of the SP at the remote and it will allow the power to the trailer. Yes, you don't have protection, but with the genny I figure you are pretty safe.

I have Progressive Industries 50 amp Hardwired Surge Protector EMS-HW50C for three years. It think the first mode I did. Saved me from floating ground, low, and high voltage several times.

As Mike said, had to tie the neutral and ground for the Inverter / Generator Plug, which goes to transfer switch, and then to the EMS-HW50C.

Put the display with the other controls inside the coach.
