Uh, is that for sale?

You’ve probably seen the movie “Christmas Story,” well I came home with a lamp yesterday. Sort of reminds me of that except this one didn’t have a leg to stand on. It is one of a kind though where someone simply built it from a couple of old musical instruments. The main part/shaft is from an older tenor sax. It really caught my attention since I sometimes play the sax in our worship services. My daughter asked me if it would light up whenever you blow on it. I told her it didn’t have a mouth piece. Anyway I thought it was sort of unique and with a little bargaining I brought it home yesterday. Hope to make lots of conversation with it and so far it’s working.

Very cool! Much better than a plain old lamp.

My son-in-law would almost kill for one like that.

You should rig it up to an iPod so it would do Coleman Hawkins playing Picasso or something else cool...

It wouldn't be that difficult to make one but finding a sax to use would probably not be that easy.
This one isn't for sale!

Bill, you mention the lamp in "A Christmas Story". The next time I get to the local Elkhart establishment, which happens to be a restaurant, I'm going to have to take a picture and post it here because, it does have a leg up. It is a spittin' image of the one in the movie.

Looks great, but I bet the image will tarnish when you have to break out the brass polish.

Actually if it gets cleaned I would use a lacquer polish made for musical instruments. No brass polish what so ever!
