High Efficiency air conditioners

We are still waiting for delivery of our 2955 RL. The 10th Anniversary Montana's come with 15000 BTU units that need 15 amp to run. In most campsite in Canada 15 amp service is very common Has any one installed the Dometic high efficiency units that run on 10 amp and less

stargate, they actually don't pull 15 amps, just around 6-8 amps, (I think that's right) but pull a few times more on starting surge, but with a 20 amp outlet feed and a good 12 gage extension cord, you can run one with no problem anywhere.

I do exactly as Ozz said. Good 12 gauge extension cord on a 20 amp circuit here at the stick house. Running one AC is not problem. On occasion I have plugged a vacuum cleaner on the same circuit and popped the circuit breaker, typically when the AC compressor starts up. Coffee pots will trip a breaker on the same circuit.

I was thinking the Coleman on our TT drew about 12 amps while running. I happened to bring a amp probe (clamp on) with us to the coast this time. I just checked the 15K btu and it shows to draw 12.5 amps. The Penguin (13.5 btu) draws 11 amps. I know I used to run the TT AC on a 5KW generator with a 12 gauge cord.
