Anyone have a siding repair done?

Anyone here have a siding repair completed on your RV? I clipped a roof overhang at a campground and punctured a hole in our rig. Its through the wall into the kitchen. No structural damage just a large hole about 6” x24”. I have called insurance to start our claim.
Has anyone had a wall repair like this completed and if so what did they do? Do they cutout the damaged section and fill it in with material like new backing, new fiberglas and new gelcoat? What is the process?

Not on the side, but I did almost rip off the rear cap on tail swing hitting a steel post. Pulled the cap loose on all except one side and ripped the fiberglass in 2 or 3 places. Found an RV repair facility with good google reviews. They did an excellent repair of the fiberglass and looked new after they finished. I would think a competent shop would have no problem with a hole in the side.


Google RV repair for your area and check their reviews. Not a dealer. Too many horror stories on how long dealers take to do repairs. Shop I used only took 3 weeks to do my major repair, and that included a 4th of July holiday in the middle. I could recommend a very good shop if only you were in the DFW area.
