IS & Mice
Yo are probably asking what do mice have to do with the IS suspension. Several weeks ago we had a mouse in the living room of our 3790RD. A few days later it showed up in the kitchen. Next day caught with a sticky trap.
That is the first mouse in 5 years of travelling all over this country, so got under the trailer to see if I could find out where it got in.
Hadd the IS installed in Nov. in Grants Pass, OR. Discovered that when they welded the parts to the frame the cut the coroplast away, with no way to reattach it. So the is a gap in the coroplast about 12 - 24 inches where a critter can climb up on the tire and right in my living room.
Not sure how to fill the holes( one on either side). Probably with steel wool or something like that.
Those of you with the IS have you had any critter problems? Just curious. If so what did you do?

Don’t have the IS. But would be interested in a picture of the hole.

You could get another piece of coroplast and get some flex tape and tape and tape another piece of coloplast over the hole.

We've had IS installed in Elkhart on two rigs now and no holes in the under belly either time.

I bet the guy that did yours removed the piece and put it back when they were done. The guy that did OP's was lazy and just cut the hole. Very sad.

Actually, I think they took it loose and put a shield between it and the welding but didn't take it off the rig.

You know those signs that you see on the roadsides advertising stuff, well, they are made out of coroplastic. Just saying......

I’ll have to get back under there and look, but as I recall it looked like they took the coroplast loose but did not reattach it.

Mine's not sealed up very good after the install either. Really no way to get the coroplast fastened to when they weld on the framework for the IS.
They could do a better job IMO.

Just had the IS put on 6/17. I agree, the way the coroplast is put back could be a lot better. They simply tucked mine above the beam and spray foamed it back together. I did some more foam sealing when I got it home. I mentioned to the installer that it would be simple to tack on a flat length of steel to screw the covering to. But that's as far as that went.

Had mine installed in Elkhart in November. Sounds like I have exactly the same issue. Had a mouse a couple of weeks ago. I trapped him, then after we got home 2 more got in. I got underneath and found the exact same issue with the coroplast on the driver’s side along the length of the wheels. I plan to use spray foam to fill the gap. On my 305rl they were coming up into the living area through the gap where the plumbing drain goes through the floor under the drawers on the right side of the island. I am going to do something to seal that off as well.

We had mice in our RV, and I bought those high frequency mouse deterrent boxes that run on two c batteries, and put 5 in my RV, and on the outside I cut Irish Spring soap bars in half, the original scented bars, and put a half a soap bar in each wheel at the bottom center of the mag wheel, and mice hate that smell. It works great at my house as well.
