A/C Low Flow of Cold Air

We are not new to 5th wheels or camping. It is our first year full time.
We recently purchased a used 2017 379RD and love it. Has anyone experienced the rear a/c unit with it not pushing out as good flow of cool air? I checked the ceiling vents, the foam filters where the inside air is drawn through. I pulled the cover off of the unit for inspection. The only thing obvious was the squirrel cage vains, they were loaded with lots of caked on dust. I removed the squirrel cage and thoroughly it. After reassembly there was an increase in cold air flow, but it still doesn't seem that it cools. I understand that this a/c is a whisper quiet unit.

A lot of folks had issues with ducts collapsing on 17 & 18 models. Use the search function to find some of those threads.

The return to the AC are closing. Most people put a 1.5 inch plastic pipe in the center to keep it open. Cut a pipe about 11 inches long and remove the vents and push it in the return to the AC. Put it in center of the return. Do both vents.

Also check the tape between the duct and the ceiling. On mine I had to redo everyone of the discharge vent. Some taped poorly, some had no tape at all. All work great now.

One more thing to do after you've done all of the above is cut 1/2 of the slats off your return air ducts and shorten the vent assembly so it doesn't stick up into the ducts. And, of course, remember to keep your filters clean.
