50 amp srvice
Last year I built a 24' X 50' steel building for our 3580RL Big Sky.
I had a 110 volt extension cord run to the trailer that I kept plugged in to it. I just completed a 50 amp underground service to the building. The service box has the 50 amp plug and a 110 plug in f0r tools and lights if needed. Will it hurt anything if I plug the trailer to the 50 amp service and leave it hooked up? I know people that are living in 5th wheels are hooked to 50 amp service all the time.

Don't know why it would hurt. We live in ours year-round, and never boondock so it it plugged in unless it's on the road. We have been plugged in since August 6th at our lot in FL.

Won't hurt anything. Check your battery occasionally to insure the charger isn't boiling them dry. Jim

Ours stays plugged in to 20 amp service year round when in storage. No different than being on 50 amp as far as any long term effect on the trailer.

We are powered up on 50 amp service 95% of the year.

Mine stays plugged in continuously. Don't worry about that whole "boil the batteries dry" thing...That's not a problem with newer trailers and chargers.

Before we went full time, we always keep our plugged in. Now that we are full time and also solar we don't always keep it plugged in. Seems kind of strange, but that's how it is.

Have our Montana plugged in to 50 Amp all the time when stored in farm shop when not traveling. Progressive surge protector shows Legs 1&2 use of anywhere from zero to 5 amps each most of the time just to maintain the converter, batteries, and fantom draws. I try to check batteries water level occasionally. We also keep rig level with refrigerator going and slides out, and during hot weather run both air conditioners if loading for a trip. Also, you will have two more 120 volt plugins available for use on your door side.

I wish I had 50 amp available 100% but so far only the campgrounds where we full time has it. When we go home for a week, the best we can do is 30 amp via parallel Honda gennies, and now the weather is finally cooling down so the 15 amp from the garage will do.
If you want to stay connected to 50 amp, this shouldn't be a problem at all, especially if you don't draw 50 amp, by running the fridge, air conditioner, water heater, entertainment devices, etc. But a passive connection of 50 amps means you'll have plenty of power to draw for when you want to turn something on. I'd be more worried about keeping all the other stuff constantly running. but this should work, too, since everything should be able to take it.
Plug away!

I have 50 amp in my storage area and keep the rig plugged in all the time we are here. Being in AZ it can get hot in the spring and fall when so if I am here I do set both ACs to 85 so that it never gets too hot inside. Oh yes I do have solar on the house so running the ACs is a no cost item for me. Got to love that.

Mine stays plugged in all the time. But like being on the road it has a surge protector in line all the time.

With 50 amp, a smart charger, and good batteries (AGMs), you can plug in and literally forget about it.

I have 50 amp off my shop and keep mine plugged in all the time. As stated, I check the batteries on occasion. Only thing I have found is corrosion on the second battery terminals routinely, don't know why. I just clean them and re-tighten them. Both batteries stay fully charged and full of fluid.
