Technical Problem

I would like to know how to wire in a fantastic fan. I just bought a rebuild fan but it came with no instructions. I keep blowing fuses when I change the rotation of the motor.

Welcome to the forum

Cannot help you with wiring, BUT, have heard here on the MOC that if you call the manufacturer of Fantastic Fan that they are VERY helpful! Heard a number of the same reports from MOC members. Might want to consider calling them Monday AM.

Good luck!

I thought the fantastic fan was only supposed to blow "out". Are you trying to reverse the wiring to make it blow "in"?

I wired in two fantastic fans with no problem. All you have to do is wire the white wire to white wire and black wire to black wire. The fact that you have a rebuilt fan may be the problem. You should be able to reverse the fan (when it is stopped) when you change the switch setting from Out to In or vice versa. The suggestion to call Fantastic Fan Co. (I believe they are in Imlay City, MI), is a good one. That company is extremely helpful for their customers.

If you wrap aluminum foil around the fuse, it'll not blow. Seriously, I had that happen once. You must let the fan stop completely before reversing it. The fuse is only a 0.5 amp and won't take much overload.

DO NOT PUT FOIL OUR ANYTHING OVER OR AROUND FUSES AT ANY TIME!!!!
SPENT 20 YEARS AS FIRE FIGHTER. TOO MANY HOMES DISTROYED BECAUSE OF SUCH CRAZY IDEAS.
FUSES HAVE A RATING ON THEM TO BLOW BEFORE CAUSING A FIRE.

Ours also has the switch for IN and OUT. I spliced into the water closet fan wiring using the white to white and black to black as Orv described. No problems at all with it. I'd bet something is screwy in the fan if it's blowing fuses.

I went to Fantastic Fan's web site and they say that the fans have an option of being reversable. Mine must not have the option to reverse cause it only blows one direction.

Ours is not reversible either. The one that has the automatic control on the wall is not reversible. If we ever put another in, we will get a reversible. Ours sucks out really good.
Happy trails..................

I think Bob was joking, making a funny or in other words just kidding around. Not to put words in his mouth but when I read his comment about tin foil not once did I even think he was being serious. After all everyone knows a penny, paper clip or nail works better than the tin foil.

Thank you, Jeff. I could have said "wrap foil around it then watch to see where the smoke comes from. There is the problem."

I've also read that a 22 caliber shell fits perfectly in place of the fuse.

(WARNING!!!!, THIS IS A JOKE! DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME)
