Recommendations for campsite in Galveston, TX

Anyone have any recommendations for a decent campground in or around the Galveston area? Heading that way from El Paso. Thanks in advance!

I have stayed at both Dellanera RV Park and Jamaica Beach RV Park. Dellanera is on the beach and closer to downtown but they both are nice.

I agree with Ddubya....
City ran Dellanera RV park is just the sand mound from the water. But the sites are real tight.
Jamaica Beach RV park is a little farther from downtown (5 miles) but is a resort level park, we always get a site along the first drive which runs parrell with the main road, but traffic has never been a problem. You can walk across the main road and to the sand/beach or drive half a mile and drive right onto the sand.
Shrimp and Stuff best problem to eat lunch and dinner -its what the locals do. A city police officer told us that 30 years ago and we have never going to the fancy - expensive places to eat.

Galveston

Last time we stayed at Galveston Island RV. It was nice but it was too far from town...even farther than Jamaica Beach Park. Next time we will try Dellanera or Sandpiper which looked good to us.

Just did a search on Youtube this weekend for Galveston RV parks and camping.
Lots of good info. Jamaica Beach looks really nice.

It's too bad you "don't do state parks" (wth does that even mean??) because a quick google search will show that you can tent camp at the beach at Galveston state park.
