We normally run 5-7 gallons of fresh water in the tanks while traveling, knowing that is good for a few flushes and hand washing. Even in the Corps of Engineers parks we can fill our fresh water tank as necessary.
We get low enough fuel mileage without the unnecessary added weight of a tank full of water.

I was thinking about carrying fresh water for ballast, just to take a few pounds off the pin.

Just wondering if anyone has actually measured the difference in fuel mileage with that extra 500lbs of water on board.
We usually carry 1/2 to 3/4 F/W for rest stops. Empty grey tank and leave black tank if it's 1/3 or below for slosh action. F/W tank does not add to the payload so I don't worry about that.

I'm sure it's trivial unless you're pulling grades the whole time. The large front profile seems to have the biggest impact on mileage due to drag.

I cut up an old hose to keep the length around 6-7 feet. Make sure the pump switch is on. Turn the winterize valve to on, open up the cold water side of the outside shower and the water valve to "fill". The pump should start drawing water from the jug through the winterize port and pump it through the shower valve to the fresh water tank.
When finished, return the three valves to their normal positions.
It's not fast, but it works. I carry four 6 gallon jugs if we don't have water hook ups.

I'm usually pretty quick on the uptake. But I had to analyze jetskiers post 3 times to get the jest of what he was talking about. I get it now. Thank you for your post.

Some guys think nothing about adding 50 gallons of extra fuel to their trucks.
