Replacing Ceiling Fan

Has anyone ever replaced the ceiling fan in their Montana?
I’ve done them in various houses over the years, but wasn’t sure if there would be anything special about doing it in the 5th wheel?
There is a ceiling hugger there now and does very little to move air around living room area. I’m thinking of installing one that drops 6-12 inches and has a better blade configuration to move as much air as possible. Summer in FL it gets pretty warm in the 5th wheel during the day, with the AC’s pumping as hard as they can.

Nothing special about the wiring. For the ceiling, I used toggle bolts instead of the screws keystone used.

Most important thing is to make sure it will clear the slides, especially if you have opposing slides. Our previous SOB wasn't designed well for the ceiling fan, thus the blades had to be in the right position to prevent a busted blade, don't ask me how I know.

A hanging fan will hit when your slides are in! You can a ceiling huger that will clear just fine.

I did ours in the HC after our first trip, using a ceiling mounted fan from Lowe's. Much better air circulation with 5 blades and 3 speeds plus a nice light. But as said above, makes sure that the replacement will clear the pulled in slides. Also, you may be able to use a larger diameter blade span unit.

As far as installation, turn off the power, pull a few screws and wiring, reverse the procedure and you are done. It works best if two of you are there as an extra pair of hands makes the job easier and faster.

The drop on the ceiling fan is important. To low and the blades will be caught by the slides coming in from both sides. We also took the extended chain off one of the switches because it got caught on the top molding of one of the slides and nearly pulled the fan off the ceiling if we hadn't caught it before it did. The slides really do come close to the fan and the blades when the slides are brought in, so be careful on what you choose. To low and smash, to big and to much weight then. Never ending battle!

We replaced OEM hugger to hanger, No problems with slide its only 24In 5 blade, No light kit. It works better because it has better air flow.

Replaced mine with a 5 blade from Home Depot. No light kit. Easy job.
