Awning needs to be replaced

We need to replace our awning. Deciding whether to keep the manual setup or go with an electric awning. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The nicest part of owning a power awning is being able to roll it in during an unexpected weather event without going outside .

x2 had the manual roll up on s.o.b and got caught in wind and storms, having a elelctric awning on our high country it is nice in the middle of the night when a storm come and all you have to do is go to the control panel and push a switch,

x3. We had manual awnings with previous rigs and love the electronic one with the Monty. Easy to retract in high winds and if it's raining and I want the awning out/in, I don't get wet while I stand inside and press the awning button!

Just sayin ... you may have the old hardware mounting holes to deal with as the electric awnings don't attach the same way. You'll also have a wiring issue to deal with and will need to come up with an inside switch location easily accessed by the wiring ... or if you're having it done, just lay down the money and disregard my two issues.

What's wrong with you sissies? I love getting up in the middle of the night during a torrential downpour just so I could get dressed and go out to put up the awning! Of course I also love root canals without anesthetics too...

The power awnings have their advantages, but they are very very slow. If a sudden storm comes up and you press the button, the awning might not make it all the way before the wind gets it...that happened to us. If we had a manual awning tied down, I think we'd have been okay.

I love my electric awning, BUT do sometimes miss the option of extending legs out for a several day stay. Not sure worth the cost of conversion.

We love our electric awning, and if you are making a choice of manufacturers I would go with carefree of Colorado because the motor is VERY easy to repair or replace with dismantling the entire awning as is the situation with the A&Es that they put on the newer Montanas. The A&E's motor is inside the roller and a total pain to repair..

I know they say not to tie down the electric awnings but I in fact do. I put ours out last summer and it was out for the entire summer except for a the very few times it went in just to be exercised and cleaned. As long as you don't pull down to tight they are fine. Just snug them and they are good to go as far as I am concerned. On the other hand by leaving it out all summer the color of the awning is not as good as it once was.
