Decal problems
My wife and I are looking at buying a used 2004 3650RK in mint condition - only problem I can find is that the front decals of the mountains and "Montana" are curling up on the edges. Does anyone know if this was a model year or product problem. I have a 2004 315RLS and have no decal issues. Any info would be appreciated.

I couldn't answer if it was a model year problem - but my '03 is doing it. The biggest areas affected are where they wrap around the slides facing forward (into the tow wind) and down from the top. The water run-off gets under them, and the snow sliding off peels them a little. I glue them back and they seem to stop.
I think it was just poor prep at the factory. Just enough stick to get through warranty.

Our 04 is doing ok, could be previous owner used something they shouldn't have to clean the bugs off.

When I bought my 2005, it had peeling decals right on the dealers lot .... my 2000 never did. They replaced them before money exchanged hands, but now 1.5 years later they are doing the same thing along with shrinking up about 1/4". There was a previous post about a graphics vendor change sometime in the 04 - 05 model years you might do a search on. Some have posted they have got their decals replaced by Keystone ... I'm going to snap some photos and have my dealer make a formal inquiry to Keystone on this re-occuring issue. After all it is a traveling billboard of sorts!

I don't believe it is anything about year model. I think the reaserch show's that you shouldn't WAX you MONTANA or any other RV with decals using a WAX that contain's any type of Patoleium that contributes to the decals slightly shrinking and curling. I think if you trace back to the last owner, he used a wax that probably caused the problem. If the MONTANA is located at a dealer have him replace the decals, or if it is privately owned, have the price reduced enough so you can order the replacement decals plus installation from a dealer and buy the unit. WE HAVE A 3650RK and love it.

It's not the wax John, mine has never been waxed on the sides or back, and that's where its peeling. I think its poor prep and climate. The southern exposure sides to ours when in storage are the problem areas, and include shrinking, splitting, and peeling. The rest has held up pretty well.
I do wax the nose to help with bugs, and that decal is fine.

It seems that my mountain decals are fine, but the cloud decals are the ones that are curling. So far it is on the front cap and drivers side. I am assuming that is because of the sun beating on them while it is parked. The passenger side is pretty well protected from the sun.

I have a 2004 3670RL and my decals are peeling. I bought it used and it was in mint condition. I don't really give a darn about the decals. In fact, it could have no decals at all and I would still love it the same. What's most important aesthetics or function?

I'm waiting for the decals to come completely off. That would be the perfect excuse for full paint...

Our 2000 3255RL decals on the front cap are curling, and it doesn't bother us. I think it's just something that happens after time and exposure to the elements. You might see if the dealer will do something for you, but I wouldn't let that stop me from getting a Montana in mint condition if the price is right.

You know of course it's not limited to just the Montana's or even just the Keystone's or just RVs. Two of my neighbors have late model Cedar Creeks and in both cases their graphics are starting to shrink and peel. I have even noticed it on some commercial trucks. This is a graphics industry problem and not just related to RV graphics.

I'd call Keystone and see if they'll send you a set free. That's what I did for my previous TT. They wanted to charge me and I gave 'em the "look, this is free advertising for you, everybody gets to see my clean and sparkling rig going down the road..." She finally agreed it was worth a few bucks to them and mailed a set to me.

Bob has removed all but the front mountain decal, which is next. We have kept the stripes on the sides, but all the clouds and mountains are gone. Looked really tacky with the drying, curling and cracking. But, strangely, the "Montana" on the front cap and rear looks really good!!
