Slide tape
On top of my slides near the outside edge, the tape is starting to curl up on one edge. The tape covers a seam I think..I would like to take care of this before it becomes a real problem. I know I could use eternabond tape and solve the problem but a service manager suggested Dicor self leveling caulk. My question, have you ever used Dicor for a problem like this?
Thanks for your comments!

Thunderman,
I have used the Dicor lap sealant to seal around skylights and vents on a previous coach. It seems to work very well. I think it would take care of your problem. I have also read many posts about Eternabond Tape. It sounds like it would work too. Catching this problem early is a good thing whatever you use.

Might call (or contact by e-mail) Lippert (or Dale (MIMF) at Keystone) and ask what tape they use and what commercially available type they would recommend.

The top of my one slide was curling up also.I just noticed it this weekend when winterizing.I cut off the curled up part, cleaned up the area, and put down about a 3 foot strip of Eternabond Tape.As far as caulking goes I would be worried about the caulk getting on the slide out seals wwhen retracting or extending.None of my slide out roofs have caulk on them.

I had the same problem and called keystone, and they told me the tape was called TEDLAR Tape. they told me to call Charger Enterprises Inc. Billy Robbins @ 212-262-2389. You have to be careful and patient removing the old tape. Its not cheap, but they will sell it by the foot. hope this helps.

Bruce and Cheri,
Thanks for the info on Tedlar Tape. I will call Charger Enterprises and check it out. I was planning to use Eternabond tape but we will check on the Tedlar tape. Thanks again!

I use Eternabond tape, 4" wide, 25 ft roll, white that I purchase on-line at http://bestmaterials.com/roof_repair.aspx and click on Eternabond products. Then click on Roof Seal/White. What you want is RSW65MIL-4X25. Cost is $42.89, close to half price what you have to pay in Camping World or RV Accessories stores.

ols1932,
Thanks for the info on bestmaterials. Did you put the eternabond tape on top of the existing tape after removing the curled edge?

Yes I did, after I trimmed any curled edges. What I did was to start nearer the inside of the slideout, about 6 inches, and laid a strip, so that I could lay another strip and overlap both my new strip and cover the old one. I now have two strips that cover about 6 inches rather than the original 4 and the strips lay nice and flat.
Here's a tip: Before you lay any tape, wipe the entire area where you are going to lay the tape, including over the old tape, with rubbing alcohol and let it dry for a few moments before you start laying the tape. The rubbing alcohol cleans all the dirt and grime off the roofing material so that the tape will adhere well.
Cut off as much tape as you need to make a strip. Don't use several short pieces because you just open yourself up to more places where it could possibly curl. Lay it slowly and press it down well so that you get it down tight. When I finish, I use a little roller that I have and roll it down. You can use anything you have handy to smooth it down so that it's tight.
This works really well and I haven't had a problem with mine in over 2 1/2 years. I just checked the other day and it's still laying nice.
Good luck. Hope this helps you.

Very glad to see this thread as I noticed just a hint of curling on the bedroom slide the other day. I appreciate the information and think I will look into the Eternabond tape.

TT2,
It was not a difficult job at all. I used the procedure outlined by Orv and all went smoothly.
Orv, thanks for the help!

I see they have some 6" wide tape. I wonder if that would be better than 2 strips of 4 inch tape?

Can you show a photo of the tape you're referring to on the slide?

Go to http://www.bestmaterials.com/SearchR...x?KeyWords=rsw
I wouldn't use the 6-inch tape simply because when you stick it down, it sticks! It's a little harder to handle.
